Cute little bakery in town. I’ve been wanting to try their food for a while. So when I finally got to visit, I bought 4 different cupcakes and a small cheesecake. The cupcakes were normal size and the cheesecake would equate to 2-2.5 slices; all of this cost $20. I personally felt the price was high. I don’t mind paying $2+ if the cupcakes are large and delicious but that wasn’t the case here.
I gave 4 stars bc the service was fantastic ( 5 out of 5) but the food was not something my taste buds liked. The cupcakes were bland to me and the cheesecake didn't taste like cheesecake. I don’t like super sweet icing on cupcakes and these weren't which was perfect; but they just didn’t have much flavor imo. So I’d give the food 3 out of 5 which is why I ended up giving 4 stars.
Again, the service was great and the place was cute. Their pastries might be better but after spending $20 and not liking what I bought, I won’t buy anything else to try. However, I still would say, try it bc your taste buds might like...
Read moreWhat an amazing gem this bakery is! I had the good fortune to stumble in from a road trip on Hwy 64 W, in search of coffee. And ended up with the most other-worldly, freshest, perfect blend of crisp/flaky outside and melting tender inside, delicious danish pastry (cardamom-almond! -incredible fresh-spice taste!) I have ever eaten, anywhere (sorry, EU!). I was also unable to resist bags of shortbread cookies - traditional pecan and lemon (there were other flavors) - "to give to my neighbors." Sure! We'll see if they last long enough to get to said neighbors. Beautiful decorated cakes, donuts, muffins. And everything in the case looked just as fresh and good. Small beautiful, beautifully organized, welcoming space. Coffee never had a better pairing. Go there! PS: Next day...made it all the way to second breakfast (danger of working from home) before I broke into the pecan shortbread...heavenly, crispy-sandy-buttery, lots of pecans. Stopped at one...
Read morePhoenix Bakery - Pittsboro. I recently had another “first” when I stumbled on this bakery. I don’t live in Pittsboro and wasn’t sure where it was located. Now I do! Right off Business Route 64 West about a mile and a half from the Pittsboro circle (on the righthand side). I liked the outside of their building and was pleasantly surprised by the cozy inside. Very homey feel, clean, friendly, and the fresh baked goods aroma was wonderful! I was on my way out of town and had already eaten breakfast but I couldn’t resist their cheddar dill/herb biscuit- which was delicious! All the baked goods in the cases looked fresh and tempting - a variety of homemade donuts, biscuits, cakes, pastries, breads, etc. They also serve made to order breakfast sandwiches and have a Lunch sandwich menu, too. Side note: they are also an “Elmira” vintage-styled appliance dealer. I...
