Walking into Ida’s Sandwich Shop is an experience in itself. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by the incredible aroma of fresh, delicious food cooking—like comfort and quality all wrapped into one. The atmosphere was just right, with smooth R&B playing in the background, setting a laid-back and welcoming vibe.

The owner, is a phenomenal businesswoman who truly understands great food and hospitality. She greeted me with a warm smile, and my order was already prepared and ready to go. The shop is impeccably clean, and whether you’re dining in or taking out, it has that classic sandwich shop charm that feels both nostalgic and inviting.

Now, let’s talk about these fries. For just $5.50, you get a generous portion—perfect as a satisfying snack on its own or as a shareable side. If you’re grabbing a few sandwiches (which I highly recommend), one order of fries is more than enough to round out the meal for everyone. As I walked home, I could already smell them through the bag, hot and fresh. The packaging was thoughtfully done, making it easy to carry, and they even included plenty of napkins and ketchup.

When I opened the bag, I was met with perfectly golden, fresh-cut fries—crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and seasoned to perfection. Each bite had just the right balance of salt and flavor, making them impossible to put down. They’re the kind of fries that remind you what fresh-cut fries should taste like.

And while today was all about the fries, I have to mention that I’ve had their breakfast sandwiches before, and they are everything you want them to be—hearty, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Ida’s doesn’t just serve food; they serve up a true old-school sandwich shop experience, where quality, portions, and price all hit the mark.

If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out. Five stars,...

Listen up, folks! Ida's Sandwich Shop ain't no ordinary joint, it's the holy grail of sandwich shops. Yeah, you might have to wait a good 30-40 minutes for your order, but trust me, it's worth every dang second. Consider it an investment in your taste buds.

Now let's talk about the fish sandwich, 'cause this thing ain't playin'. It's hands down the best fish sandwich I've ever had - flaky, tender, packed with flavors that'll send your senses on a joyride. And the portions? Man, they're as generous as your grandma at Thanksgiving.

But it ain't just the sandwiches that'll have you coming back for more. The fries, my friends, are a whole different ball game. They're out of this world! We're talking crispy, golden perfection. If you need a reason to wait, these fries are it.

The shop itself is a sight to behold. The place is decked out real nice, with a vibe that's as cool as a cucumber. It's the kind of joint you want to hang out in, enjoy your food, and forget about the world for a while.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the chicken sandwich. That thing is the bomb! A masterpiece in every bite.

So, the next time you find yourself craving a sandwich, make a beeline for Ida's. And remember, good things come to...

During a quick detour on our way to Philadelphia, my family and I were blessed to find Ida’s Sandwich Shop on Perrysville Ave. From the get-go, this place felt like a hidden treasure in Pittsburgh.

The menu was bursting with pre-made wonders. The kids devoured the French toast, which was so flavorful it didn’t even need syrup! My wife and I have a special place in my heart for their breakfast potatoes and that one-of-a-kind artisanal dry wheat toast. The scrambled eggs? Delightfully fluffy and savory.

Being on a low-sodium plan, I was initially unsure about the menu, but Ida herself came to help. A heads-up for those watching their salt: the Halal chicken, like many Halal meats, can be a tad salty. But Ida was phenomenal in assisting us, guiding us through the options and ensuring we were happy with our choices.

Cleanliness at Ida’s Sandwich Shop is top-notch, from the dining area to the restrooms. Speaking of which, they even have wipes in the men’s bathroom! Such a thoughtful touch for families with young ones.

In a nutshell, our brief time at Ida’s Sandwich Shop made our trip to Pittsburgh all the more special. A massive thank you to Ida and her team for an unforgettable meal. Until...

Very solid and tasty grilled cheese sandwich. Pleasantly surprised at the quality and prices are all decent. I've heard very good things about their French toast breakfast sandwich but haven't tried that yet. I did try their grilled cheese, though. This was quite a tasty sandwich and definitely satisfied my craving for a grilled cheese. Classic and tasty. They use classic white bread and make it nice and toasty. The portion is pretty good for the price (enough for a decent meal). They use multiple types of cheese, such as American, Swiss, and Provolone. It all seemed high quality. If you get takeout, heat it up and enjoy all the delicious cheese. It melts together better that way (cold, the cheeses somewhat separate). This place is not open for dinner, but it a great spot to get lunch or even breakfast for a good price. It's a little but inconvenient of a spot for me, but good food. I'd recommend it for good classic sandwiches and will come back for French toast.
