I had the chicken tinga grande burrito, and my sister had the taco salad with carne asada. Both were delicious! I wish the guacamotilo was spicier, but it was still really good! I would say it's a tiny bit overpriced for substitutions, but the rich taste of the food overall and the tenderness of the meat makes it worth it (my chicken tinga was practically falling apart because it was so tender!) Would definitely recommend :) Btw prices for most single entrees are about $15-20 :)

What a great little place! Humble, neat, and clean! The food was great. We had a carnitas quesadilla and a carnitas taco plate. Both were exceptional. The pork was tender, not too lean and not too fat. Rice and beans were spot on perfect. Is it Michelin? No. But it's straight up honest and unpretentious Mexican fare served with a smile in a place the staff clearly takes pride in. We will be back!

The meat was dry and the flavor of the fried tortillas wasn’t great in the flautas but we have had great experiences here with the quesabirria. The green salsa is also extra delish.

I finally had the opportunity to try this place and I was both impressed and disappointed. I got a to go order of a two item (chile relleno and beef enchilada) combo plate, which I made over the phone.

Impressed: the fellow I spoke with was very helpful and gave me a 10-15 minute window for when it would be ready. I also asked for chips and salsa and he said "no problem". I arrived after about 13 minutes and as I walked in saw my food ready to go on the front counter. I notice two containers of salsa on the top, one red and one green, and asked if I could get another red and he immediately walked over to the salsa bar and served me up another. Upon returning home I opened up the containers to find huge portions of all of the food. The red salsa was tasty, but was a little too pasty from the tomato being overly pureed. The refried beans were also pretty good (and should I choose to return I will definitely try the bean & cheese burrito).

Disappointed: The sauce the chile relleno (largest I have ever seen) was lying in was actually pretty good, but it was topped with some very salty/acidic veggies including pickled jalapeno, tomato, and onion. It just didn't have the sweet and savory flavor I am used to, and the chile itself was pretty tough (could barely get through it with a fork). The enchilada was bland (both sauce and filling)… there was some heat to it but little else. The chips were very thin and a bit stale in their texture, and I found the rice to be pretty flavorless and over-cooked/dry.

All in all I give it a three stars (five for customer service, minus two for the almost inedible chile relleno, bland enchilada, stale chips, and dry/flat rice).

My order was placed shortly after their opening time, so maybe that affected things like the chips and rice (maybe yesterday's), but I am struggling with my decision to return based on the chile and enchilada. While I think their ingredients were high quality, I can't help but feel that what they want their food to taste like is way off the traditional Mexican flavors I am accustomed to having been raised in southern California. Tijuana Taqueria down the hill in Placerville does a...

We are really hoping for some great things with this taqueria located in Pollock. The long long ago Mexican establishment that sat in the same parking lot but burned down years ago set a very high standard. This place just opened, so I am happy to update my review if things change, BUT this owner has a place in Placerville does does ok....this one needs HELP! The food- good taste but comes out COLD. YUCK. You order the same thing plate but each one comes out with different items. You are always missing something on your plate, or what is part of your meal. The staff runs around like chickens with their heads cut off. I feel bad because they are being pulled in so many directions, but that is their own fault. Customers don't have what they ordered. Hopefully they can get it together and make a go of it. The last Mexican place in this location a few months ago, could not make a go of it because their food was AWEFUL AND the owners were SO negative about the community. They lost the hair salon because they talked trash about the community. Hoping for great things, and will update if they get their act together. Time will tell, but if they continue as they are, they will not be in...

Oh Paco your standards are so low your mentors would be very disappointed. Yelp failed me on this one or people in Hangtown just have no idea about Mexican food. Plain and simple everything came out of a can. Salsa seemed like a mish-mash of various jars all mixed together - one fire roasted and another pico de gallo but nothing fresh about it. Beans were bland and were nothing more special than El Mexicano or Rosarita. Enchilada sauce was bright red so a dead giveaway for food dye that comes from a canned sauce. Oh yeah and no shredded beef, only ground beef?? All served up on a cold plate so the rice was not hot when delivered. All four of us dining had the same experience.

Also how annoying is it when the server will not bring an itemized receipt but instead brings only the device to the table to swipe your card?!

Ambiance in the restaurant is so so. Typical corona decor everywhere and hard chairs with tables no booths. Definitely no cozy vibes. The best part of the meal...
