The idea of this restaurant is outstanding, however the final execution is lacking. First off, the customer service here is incredible. The girls are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure your happy. The tomato basil soup is out of this world, maybe the best I've ever had. Sweet and tomatoey. The basil is perfect. The sandwiches are average, although I found the corned beef to be very tender and delicious. The grilled cheese was good but could use to be buttered before being pressed. The tomato on the sandwich is an after thought and minimal. The cheesecake is creamy and delicious without being intrusively sweet. The fillings are where it slides downhill. The pecans in the turtle cheesecake have NOT been toasted which results in a chewy, soggy nut that is not so good. The crust lacks enough butter to make a quality crust resulting in graham cracker dust. The rest of the filings are not nearly up to snuff with the quality cheesecake filing and seem like store bought.

In order for a casual restaurant to impress it needs to provide value. In this case, the prices are astronomical while providing budget quality. The mason jars are quirky and smart, the execution is not. Drinks are expensive, sandwiches on the high side and just ho hum. Soup is expensive although the portion large but just get the cup. The cheesecake is expensive for a small amount and are nothing mind blowing. Two people, sandwich, soup, drink, and cheesecake will set you back $43.00. I'd rather go to cheesecake factory for the money. For a more local approach,...

It is definitely a novel idea to have different kinds of cheesecakes in a mason jar that you can eat from directly. Also, the people working there and the service is really nice. Those are the two reasons that I gave them three stars.

Now the reasons for the missing two stars...

I went there many years back. I remember that at that time, their focus was mainly on the mason jar cheesecake which is their main specialty and claim to fame.

When I went this time, I realized it has turned into a sandwich shop as well. The mason jars were still there but not as many varieties as I remember and definitely not the focal point. They also had cheesecake in regular triangle shape in small plastic containers also.

All of that is fine, but the fact that now each of the mason jar cheesecake or even the other cheesecake container is over $7.50 each, did not sit right with me. I still decided to give it a chance and purchased a couple for me and my son to sit there and enjoy.

Eating the cheesecake, I realized it did not taste anything special. My son said the same. It was just "ok".

Bottom line: I took off the two stars for taste not being great and the price being unreasonable IMHO.

My humble advice, FWIW, would be for the owner to consider going back to their focus in the early days of perfecting the mason jar cheesecakes and offering them at a...

FYI - This review is for the Plainfield location it is the only one we have patronized. -

Love this place! Great food! My favorite is the Nutty Goat Salad. I also love their soups and sandwiches too. Quality food made with fresh ingredients.

The cheesecake is delicious comes in a variety of flavors our family has had Vanilla, Birthday Cake, Cookies & Cream, Dark Chocolate, Turtle, Espresso, Peanut Butter Chocolate, Blueberry, Raspberry, Strawberry and my favorite Key Lime. It comes in 8 or 4oz mason jars or you can buy a whole cheesecake to take home. If you bring the mason jars back they give you get a discount.

Great dine in atmosphere, a clean small dining area with a lot of windows and a few outside tables that are sheltered enough for light rain. There are ceramic Strawberry baskets on each table to rest your phones while you eat. The staff gives you drinks at the register and brings your food out when ready or you can carry out. The staff is helpful when I have menu questions and friendly I've never had a bad experience with anyone at the Plainfield location. The only frustration I have ever had there is not being able to find a seat when it's busy.

Great place to enjoy great food...

our wedding was two weeks ago and I reached out to Steve to do our desserts and our wedding (cheese)cake. through the entire process- steve was responsive and helpful. I wanted to do a special cheesecake that was a flavor not listed on the menu (but now it is, in slices 😉); toasted coconut. it was incredible!!! coconut is my husband's favorite flavor, and this one was AMAZING. Steve even drove all the way out to our venue (in Carpentersville) day-of to make the delivery, himself... we had 18 dozen mini cheesecakes and 6 whole pie stuffed cheesecakes. everyone is still talking about them. thank you to this amazing small business for not only giving me one less thing to worry about on my wedding day, but for making our day even that more memorable.

This was my first time at Steve Buresh’s and I was so impressed! To start, the staff were so kind and friendly. Our food was brought out fast and the quality of their fresh ingredients really shined! I enjoyed the large chunks of lobster in my lobster roll, and thought it paired well with their flavorful hummus. My mom enjoyed the chicken enchilada soup with a turkey spinach artichoke press which she describes as “outstanding!” Both of our sandwiches were generously overflowing with ingredients. The space was fun and clean, and provided enough seating to accommodate multiple parties. We also grabbed a couple cheesecakes on the way out which are so worth it! I can’t wait to come back! Also, of importance to me: the bathrooms are SO clean!
