Tortilla Flatz Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Plainfield

I've never had bad Mexican Food until tonight. How do you have a sit down Mexican restaurant and you have to pay for chips and salsa? The guacamole tasted like it came out of a can. The chicken fajitas were over priced and served with shredded chicken. When I asked if they had fajita style chicken they said they only have shredded which makes me believe their chicken comes pre shredded in a bag. I returned the fajitas (I don't like shredded chicken) and they still charged for the rice and beans. One employee was hosting, serving, bussing and bar tending. The owner/manager never came out to talk to me about my returned meal. In addition, my husband and I were the only ones in the restaurant and it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The excuse was they had other customers and take out orders. (Although no one ever entered the restaurant.) We will not...

I was at this restaurant recently with a group of people of 25.I love Mexican food and was expecting a tasty meal but instead I was given the blandest meal ever.Tortilla soup did not even resemble tortilla soup.It was a pretty tasteless chicken soup with 3 tortilla chips in it (?).The taco salad was a taco shell filled with Romaine salad, topped with some chicken and 2 slices of avocado.No tomatoes,beans,sour cream, nothing.The Ranch dressing was actually Blue cheese and I ended up having some dry salad due to lack of dressing. The room was cold and roof was leaking so they put a bucket in the middle of table !!!Can you imagine? To top it off, a waitress spilled something hot on the arm of the future bride and scalded her arm. She may even sue for that. I do not live there so my chances of ever dining...

It's really a shame about this place. The soups are really good, guac is really good, no free chips and salsa, but that's ok. Everything else was pretty bland. I will say that the white meat chicken was really good and a lot of it.

What appalled me was how rude the owner was. Heaven help you if you complain or ask for any adjustment to your food. I've seen this comment before about him. Our server was really good, ours was Jenna and she was awesome- I want to make sure she gets proper credit. But that rudeness from the owner kind of takes any pleasure out of dining there. Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but if this place is going to survive, then he needs to get a bit of self control.
