Here’s a few words from a teenager since there’s way too many old people with incredibly high standards leaving behind reviews:
We asked for a table for 5 and were told it’d be a 15-20 minute wait. We forgot to give a phone number and went to wait in the car, and come back in 15. The wait was more like 7 minutes, and a staff member actually came outside to tell us the table was ready, which was really nice.
I was a bit apprehensive because several reviews mentioned caving ceiling tiles and peeling floors. I warned my friends, and no one minded. In actuality, the ceilings and floors in the Anthracite Room that are “falling apart” are not an issue at all. It is hardly noticeable unless you are sitting directly on/under them and even then, it shouldn’t interfere with your experience. It’s a haven compared to the average public high school. The “disgusting tablecloths” are just a bit old, and theyre leather, which is why they may be a bit tattered, but that shouldn’t be an issue unless you are a weirdo who likes to eat directly off of the table at a restaurant.
The wait is not that long. If you have good company and good conversation, a 20 minute wait is not an issue. If it is, you and your company are probably just boring people.
The food is really good. Portions are pretty large for the price. If you get dessert pancakes or waffles, you may want to share. The sides are separate from the main dish, because there aren’t really any combo plates, so take that into account. Everyone I ate with was incredibly pleased. We loved our waitress. Never got her name, but it was really good service. Tip your waiters well, always, always, always. And keep your tables from being a complete mess.
It’s a great diner. Everyone left that place full, some of us with food leftover. No one paid more than $25 (separate checks)....
Read moreReview: 4.27.2025 The gut buster omelette is one serious tasting breakfast. This puppy is packed with just about every meat imaginable along with peppers mushrooms onions and of course cheese. For my side I had their potato casserole which omg this was so delicious in itself. The omelette itself was a nice size. Big in taste. Oh also had bacon and shredded hash browns. I had my choice of Italian toast. I'm calling this "Christmas day for your stomach" or just plain "heaven on a plate". If you have never been here before, check this place out. You won't be sorry. My total bill for today was only $15.46.
Another great dining experience! The last time I was here I got the gut buster omelette. That was delicious in its own right, today I got the triple decker corn beef Reuben with a side of potato salad. Words cannot even describe this sandwich so I hope the pictures do justice. Walk in and right off the bat you well I was welcomed in the establishment, just my recommendation my server Jenae deserves a raise or at least a bonus! She makes you as a customer feel like your a part of the scratch kitchen family. My sandwich was very juicy, full of meat, not over packed with kraut but just enough to give it that flavor. My potato salad had a very unique taste, not sure what else was in it but it's a 5 across the board! Definitely recommend for everyone to check this place out if you have not been here yet! Until my next review be blessed and stay safe!...
Read moreI'm sad to say that we didn't experience the tasty food that other reviewers have raved about. We were turned away. We were vacationing at a nearby resort, and decided to get some breakfast to go before we journeyed back home. When we arrived, we let the hostess know that we wanted to place a to-go order, and she provided menus, answered questions, and then took our order. It was at that point that another woman came from the back to inquire about our order, and then stopped the hostess from serving us. This new waitress addressed us in a very harsh tone, and told us that the restaurant was not accepting to-go orders. After probing a little bit, she then backtracked and said that they were accepting call-in orders. We were confused by that-- either you're too busy to take to-go orders or you're not. We asked if we could sit at the bar and order, and she acquiesced, but said it would take a long while for her to get to us. At that point, it felt clear that she didn't want to serve us, regardless of whether we dined in or ordered to-go. The whole situation was strange and embarrassing, and put a damper on our...
