Friendly service, and really excellent food. The coffee was very good, as were the home fries, hash browns, corned beef hash, and omelette. Worth special mention are the pancakes: they were large and outstanding. We enjoyed the cinnamon bun pancakes and the Oreo pancakes especially.
The Oreo pancakes are always available, but the cinnamon bun pancakes aren't always. CORRECTION: I was just informed today that cinnamon bun pancakes are now back on the menu full time! They are absolutely amazing. The best pancakes I've ever had.
They also offer some baked goods which can be ordered. I ordered a dozen of their cinnamon crumb baked donuts with vanilla icing and sprinkles for a special event, and they were, in a word, great. I can't wait to try lunch there!
UPDATE: Just had dinner there. The chocolate frappe was excellent, although not as thick as a lot of modern shakes. The fries were crispy and perfect. The burger was a good, solid burger. And the price shocked me at how low it was. I'm glad I found Don's!
UPDATE 2: Lately service at Don's had been really slow when they're busy - much more so than they used to be. We've waited for almost an hour for our food, and had to have it boxed to go as soon as it arrived. Not docking them a star, but be ready to wait on Saturdays.
UPDATE 3: Cinnamon bun pancakes are off the regular menu. There...
Read moreDon's Diner looks like most other old-time dining cars with its chrome, neon, booths, counter space and salt-of-the-earth service, but differs by also being a seafood restaurant. This fourth generation business recently merged with Norm's Seafood -- a popular North Attleboro restaurant for the past 30 years -- to serve both diner food and seafood under one roof. The "Don's by day and Norm's by night" business model is a terrific one as these two established restaurants coming together offers better convenience and variety on the menu, as well as continuing to fill a void in an area short on quality diners and seafood restaurants. From fish and chips, New England clam chowder, lobster rolls, fried whole clams and seafood platters to pancakes, burgers, club sandwiches chicken pot pies, it's still all good, hearty fare from two restaurants that now share the...
Read moreWow. Wish i could say “atleast the food was good”. Went to Dons at 11am on a Wednesday- not exactly a high traffic day/time…. Ordered food after 15min of sitting. Walked out the door after 50min at 12:05pm with an empty stomach. Waitress actually had the gaul to say “its only been 30 minutes” like that was a valid excuse? 30 min for breakfast food is ridiculous.
The single waitress on duty also spent more time showing people photos on her phone then checking on the food…
Note- the couple sitting across from us also had been waiting over 45 min for their food, and it still came out incorrectly.
Avoid this place like the plague it’s exterior looks like it carries- the good reviews are most likely from “regulars” that can apparently spend their whole day sitting in a...
