I've been here a number of times over the past 10 years and it's always been great, so many great black & tan options for beer! I personally feel the food is always delicious especially the seafood dishes. It feels like I'm actually in Ireland when I'm there! Last night the waitress made a small mistake on my wife's entre and they took it back and quickly made a new one. The Owner/Manger came over to our table and she personally apologized for the error. We all had a nice chat and I just kept thinking what a kind and unexpected thing to do to! It made us feel very special. The service is always above and beyond what I expect. I just read a few negative reviews about the food tasting "bland". To you I say..."Have you ever eaten Irish food"? That's how authentic Irish meals are supposed to taste. Ireland is not known for their "Spicy Mexican flavors" or "Hearty Italian Steakhouse Seasonings" lol 😆. Most things here go great with a Guiness. Anyway, this thought is just my opinion but there is a reason that The Chieftain is always busy because it's a great spot for a great time. They also have good music sometimes. Thank you to all the...

It was a busy Saturday and we got seated right away. We were promptly and pleasantly greeted, I always appreciate that. My husband ordered a blueberry beer and asked about frozen blueberries and was excited to be told there were actually fresh berries! Aaaand then there were none because they were out.🙁 He ordered a turkey club, which he said was very good. Not a ton of mayo like alit of places and my husband was glad for that actually I got the cappaquin chicken- a friend chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes, mashed carrot's and parsnips. I asked for the gravy on the side- the kitchen missed that but the waitress asked how I felt about it and if I wanted it redone. I only asked for it on the side because my husband doesn't like gravy so rather than send it back, wasting it all-guess he just wasn't having any 😁 I'm glad I didn't waste it because it was good! Our server only charged us for one of the two blueberry beers he'd gotten- much...

Very kind employees, but we had to go halfway around the place for me to get in because I'm in a wheelchair.

Front door ramp has too steep a grade. A very helpful and kind employee helped us out a different door, moving furniture for me, etc.

But we ordered the onion rings and calamari which came fried in the exact same utterly tasteless batter. We sent the sad rubber band calamari back and they graciously removed it from the bill. We wanted to have steamers and clam chowder, but the one size chowder, $5, appeared nowhere on the menu. And the only way to order steamers was 4 pounds for $43. We asked if we could just very 1 or 2 pounds each and we're told no. 4 pounds or nothing.

I got the curried salmon which was good but nothing special and no curry sauce to speak of. Rice and veg were okay. My friends got the chicken parm which she said was bland but good. The only pasta available was penne.

We won't...

Tried the Chieftain in Plainville MA tonight. This Irish pub style restaurant was very homey with warm wood tones throughout. They did a great job with keeping up with all the rules and regulations in these changing times. They give complimentary Irish soda bread to start which was delicious. There was a limited menu (see pictures). We ordered New England clam chowder, callan steak (with mashed potatoes and carrots), and Dublin chicken pasta. Everything was delicious, the sole complaint was the steak was ordered medium but came out closer to well done and it had a bit of gristle and fat. 12 oz steak had about 6 oz of edible meat which was actually the perfect amount. Definitely a 9 out of 10. Really enjoyed our meals tonight.
