It seemed that the kids were left unattended on my visit on 07/13/2025. I ordered the meatloaf with mac and cheese and greens. The greens were a bit salty but the rest of the meal was alright. My guest that was with me ordered the smothered porkchops and the gravy was apparently being prepared with the wait time of 20 minutes. The service was horrible with the communication between the young staff was almost nonexistent. They were playing, yelling, cussing, and on the phone while customers were waiting to be served in the lobby. The gravy for the "smothered" porkchops wasn't ready and being informed by a customer in the lobby that she waited for 40 minutes for the gravy to be done while we were told it would be an additional 20 minutes for it to be ready. The service was slow and unintentional. It didn't seem like the staff cared about customer service. The environment was chaotic with the noise, playing, and loud talking. I would hate for this business to fail because it would be a great addition to the city but if they continue to carry on as such, it will...
Read moreFirst off, I love meat and two cafes.
On my first visit, I ended up eating metal shavings from the black eyed peas. I called to give a heads up because my son had some, and that's not good for anyone, much less a toddler. I pulled a metal shard from my gums, and had to throw up a shard in the back of my throat.
....They admitted the peas and collards came from a can when I called. They said "sorry."
The thing is, I expected better from a soul food meat and two... especially one that has a chef. The main entrees were pretty good. The sides overshadowed it.
I don't want this business to fail. We lose too many restaurants, so I want it to be better. You HAVE to try harder..... The meatloaf was good, as well as the baked chicken. My wife loved that it was fall off the bone tender, not dry like Hueytowns two cafes.
If you want to improve, no more canned food. I am willing to give you my collards recipes, which my family actually asked for me to freeze for them in solo...
Read moreMy first time I understand why it was the way it was. It had a long line to the door. People waited patiently for great food. The staff was nice and polite with us rare in this city. I donât eat out bc of peopleâs attitude who serve food Iâm very energy conscientious about what I put in my body. Food: Greens were good. Black eyed peas were delicious and flavored good. Cornbread was the bomb. Especially with greens. I got baked chicken. Unfortunately they ran out of cranberry sauce. So I didnât get dressing. Dressing looked so good I hate I missed it. I ordered macaroni and cheese. I wanted some yams but they were out. I ask them to add yam juice on top of macaroni I like the flavor of them both together. I also got some peach cobbler. Iâm waiting to eat later one e I get some ice cream. Food is comforting. Thank you!! Keep on showing excellence!! I love supporting black owned businesses. I will come back,too...
