The restaurant food was very bland. Our waitress was rude from the start. She seemed very dismissive as if she didn’t even want us there. I get it’s a small town and you’re not used to strangers but it’s no reason to be rude to people passing through. Especially when we were respectful. Then to make it worse while I was eating my food I basically bit into a rock! There was something on my enchilada plate that was so hard I have no idea what it was. It grossed me out so bad I stopped eating. We absolutely did not leave a tip. I’m not going to leave a tip for bad food and bad service. Very disappointing and would not recommend. I have added the photo of the “rock”.

Everything was great. It seems like the restaurant improved on the tortillas; they were thinner with a much better flexibility to work with and make a taco, plus they were delicious. The beef had the perfect balance of ingredients and was tender. The beans, rice, and the rest was deliciously cooked. Ask for the asada plate. 3-7-24 had the menudo: it was good, I just had to ask for oregano to add more to it because that’s how I like it. The big bowl was to much for me, I’ll ask for the small bowl next time.

This place is good, cheap and the staff is attentive and friendly. This was our 1st time. The Mexican plate comes with 3 enchiladas instead of 2 like every other restaurant. AND it was only $9.99. They do get busy, and that's always a good sign. The breakfast taco was huge. Everything from the taco to the rice and beans was really good. Too bad they are about 45 min from my house. Next time I'm in Pleasanton, I will be going again.

The food is decent, it's definitely not the best, but it's not the worst.

Service is pretty awful. Ignored us several times, didn't bring us salsa with our chips for over 20 minutes, no refills on drinks, we had to go get our own silverware. It was bad.

Standing fans are in-between the tables so you'll get direct fans blowing on you. Annoying for napkins and stuff.

This is our second time trying them out. The first was a similar experience, except without the fans, that's a newer addition. The service has been very bad both times.

We're done trying....

La Cantera is a welcome addition to the family of Mexican Restaurants to choose from in Pleasanton. Nice interior with clean bathrooms (at least for the men's restrooms!) and cleaner tables. The food is nice with the chips and salsa being one of my favorites, the tortillas are fresh and crispy on the edges making them satisfying to eat. The people serving us were nice and we got our food surprisingly fast! Any critisism I may have would just be nitpicking, if you're a fan of the numerous Mexican restaurants in Pleasanton, then this place is definitely...
