The Gateway — Restaurant in Plummer

My husband's hamburger was good. My cod came out under cooked to the point the batter was sticking to my teeth. I thought, "Oh well, I'll just take the batter off and eat the fish." The fish was cold. So I nicely asked the sweet waitress if there was anything to be done. She took it back and brought out the rest of my side. I asked for dip because it was gone from my basket. It never came. My husband finished his burger.... We waited... My fish never came. So I asked for it to be put in a go box when it was done. We waited.The fish came in the go box. I didn't look at it until I got home. There is no question, in my mind, that the cook put the same fish back in the box with out even trying to cook it some more. While we were waiting I also realized I didn't get the garlic toast that was supposed to come with it... We were charged full price. Sigh. I put the fish in the trash. I was afraid the cook spit on it too... I feel badly for...

I have been there 2 times since it was a new place to try. The place is clean and nice however bundle up as it has been cold to the point where you go back to your car and get a jacket. First time eating there foos was good so worth coming back again. The last time it took a long time to get the food after it was ordered if the place was busy I can undetstand that at this time it was not. I had ordered the chicken fried steak mash potatoes and gravy.. When the meal arrived and looked good,and could of been but it was out of the refrigerator cold. Slight hint it had been warm at one time or at least some of it. This explains why it took so long to get it. I had told the server that it was cold when served and got the deer in the head light look. So for me I will not stop there any more even though it looks good and plenty of parking. Could be a nice place if it was warmer inside and the food...

I had some time to kill so I popped in for a bite to eat. The place was pretty empty so I was seated immediately. My server, Jodi, was very attentive and kind with a warming smile. I was craving a burger so I opted for the Bacon Cheeseburger with a little nudge from Jodi. She stated that the patties were hand formed and assured me that their bacon was delicious. A short 10 minutes later my food arrived. The shiny toasted bun and the stack of fresh lettuce, tomato, sliced onion and pickles made me excited to build it! A bonus we're the crisy fresh cut fries! Accompanied with house made fry sauce. The perfectly seasoned burger, fresh veggies and soft bun was exactly what I was craving. All in all I had a great meal. I would highly recommend The Gateway Cafe to anyone that happens to find themselves in Plummer Idaho....
