I always like going out, love food, enjoy good company, nothing like a good laugh, and that's why I've been eating at Tooties for almost 40 years. You can close your eyes and point at a place anywhere on the menu and you'll never get a bad meal. Everything is absolutely fresh, homemade, and always delicious. If its morning or you're just in a breakfast mood I suggest a ham and cheese omlette or any omlette on the menu is absolutely top notch and huge portions of home fries come with it. It's usually locals in there eating catching up on the interesting town gossip and if you smile as you walk in and just give a quick nod you're instantly part of the family and the conversations in Tooties are part of the experience. The waitresses are always in a good mood. If you're having a not so great day going in, I guarantee you'll be smiling coming out. The food, the atmosphere, the gossip, the smiling waitresses, and the food are enough to fill you're belly and brighten the crankiest persons day. I don't have time to begin to tell you about the Tooties homemade ice cream. That's a entire book describing deliciousness all on its own. If you don't make it in to the restaurant for breakfast or lunch (I think they close at 2 or 3) be sure to stop at the outdoor ice cream window. You will not be disappointed. I was talking to a couple in line last year who drive up from Delaware just to get Tooties ice cream if that tells you anything. Four hours round trip three times a week for ice cream gives you a idea...
Read moreBased on my experience, I'm pretty surprised at the high scores the majority of reviewers have given here. We visited Tootie's during the work week for lunch, while on business travel in the area. The restaurant itself was definately a no frills kind of place. It was small and looked like someone had converted someone's living room into a small diner, did so cheaply and many many years ago. Despite the dated looks, it was by no means dirty. The service was ok as well. Our order was simple diner staples; a grilled chicken sandwich and hot turkey sandwich with fries and gravy. The chicken sandwich was nothing to write home about. It could have used a little seasoning of some kind. The hot turkey did not look appetizing at all. The gravy was so thin, it was almost the consistency of chicken broth, so it was like eating a soggy sandwich and fries. Nothing was good enough to warrant a return. The next time I want diner food, I will do the 15 minute drive to the next...
Read moreDelicious food, perfect atmosphere! I have to be honest, other folks complain about the wait time but I didn't notice, maybe because it's a small town diner where everybody knows everybody and you don't need an invitation to socially interact. Most people nowadays that are always on the go usually skip breakfast so if you've made the decision to stop anywhere to have breakfast, you most likely aren't in a hurry. Hungry possibly but not in a hurry. This is a place where you can come, slow down, relax and have some delicious food. Friendly attentive waitress. Bacon was delicious and crisp, overeasy eggs had the perfect texture and the flapjacks... awww man, I'm a sucker for diner pancakes and Tootie's hit it dead center. Definitely recommend! Free info, someone snapped a pic of the menu so it's accessible online and also, pay attention to the specials menu on the dry erase board on the right as soon as...
