My friend, who is a film producer, and myself, attempted to try this restaurant for the first time this evening. We arrived 8-8:15pm, past the dinner and rush hour. We ordered the Nachos Supreme with Chicken instead of Beef and no Sour Cream. I questioned whether toppings would be distributed equally throughout the dish as sometimes the center and lower sections are dry and lack any ingredients. I was asked how I would like the nachos prepared and I replied to distribute the toppings equally throughout and no Sour Cream. I was told the kitchen staff may not like it but they would be told. When our nachos arrived, it was a plate of tostadas with ground beef on the bottom, sprinkled with shredded lettuce, drizzled with melted cheese, one slice of tomato halved, and topped with Sour Cream. We brought this to the attention of the server who begrudgingly returned it to the kitchen. When a second dish was brought to our table it contained Chicken without Beef, and scantly shredded lettuce, grizzled with queso, topped only with one slice of tomato halved. I questioned if this was a Navi Supreme being devoid of any flavorful toppings. I was told I asked only for Chicken, no beans or other toppings. But I had initially been asked how I wanted the nachos prepared and answered saying I wanted all the toppings distributed throughout the dish. I also asked about getting diced tomatoes rather than one slice halved. After all, it was apparent my friend and I were going to share the dish. They even brought extra plates. I told the server I did not mind paying extra to have the dish prepared differently but what was before us was not like any Nacho Supreme I had ever seen. The server made a comment to the effect of what should I expect for $8. It was at this point I asked to speak with the manager. The server advised he is the owner and wondered where I had seen Nacho Supremes different from this. I explained, every other Mexican restaurant where I have ever eaten and I frequent Mexican restaurants in Greenville and Washington. This incensed the little man and he became rude and hostile. Without appropriate cause he demanded, “get out of my restaurant!” This was a first for me, having never seen such a ridiculous excuse for a Nacho Supreme AND being told to get out because the food was not what I ordered. The food, the service, and the attitude here are the worst I have ever...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this restaurant. On our way to a different location my wife and I stopped here for lunch. The interior Is clean and well organized with appropriate decor As well as music at an appropriate volume. Given the lighting fixtures it is obviously formally a steakhouse however, they have done a good job of turning it into a Mexican restaurant. The prices were reasonable given the locale. The best part of the meal for me was the salsa that came with the chips. The salsa was above average in flavor. The rice while flavorful, was on the dry side. A little more moisture would’ve made that flavorful rice exceptional. The taco was generous with the amount of meat in the filling. The only issue being that the meat was greasy and under seasoned. The taco while visually appealing was rather bland in flavor and needed something else. Possibly some onion or maybe some cilantro as well as some seasoning on the beef other than salt. The burrito also had a generous amount of filling. The issue with the burrito was that it was greasy and needed some seasoning. The only season in used appeared to be a copious amount of salt it was quite salty. The sauce on the burrito was sparse. It definitely needed more sauce. My wife ordered the fajitas Texas. She stated While the shrimp were cooked perfectly the steak and chicken were overcooked and it was somewhat greasy. There was no defined seasoning on it other than the flavor of a greasy grill. I am rather toying between going with a two or three star because in addition to the food the staff was inattentive. When we came in all of the staff were just hanging out playing on their phones and on a computer and we had to wait until somebody noticed us to get seated. When we were done eating and ready to leave we eventually gave up on waiting on the check and just walked to the register and then had to wait again until somebody looked up from their phone or their computer to see that we were standing there. I will be generous and give this three stars but it really...
Read moreNote I went opening weekend so there were some kinks that needed working out.
Pros: they put a lot of thought into the decor. It is bright and airy, it says Mexican restaurant without being cheesy. I've been going to this location in it's various incarnations for 30 years, this Looks good.
The food was also really good. I ate with three other people and we were all pleased with our meals. Tasty, well seasoned, well priced and while I did not get them, the fajitas and specials I saw coming out looked great.
Cons: the service was SO SLOW! I am a patient person and this was "I'm about to leave" slow. I don't think they have their logistics worked out yet. Also the servers were all inexperienced and kind of unapologetic. It wasn't until I said something about leaving (after 45 minutes) that my long empty Coke and chips were attended to and apologies were made. I'm not picky, but at least explain what is taking so long, don't just avoid me.
Anyway, except for the opening weekend kinks it was good. I will definitely go back and give it another shot to see if they found their groove, the food was great. I hope it sticks Plymouth needs...
