We have a reunion every year around July 4th and try to eat at El Acapulco one night while we're in Pocahontas. Food and service has always been great except this year 2017. Several of us met at 6pm and had to get 4 tables due to the number of our party, with a total of 17, which was fine and no problem. We got this new girl that only been working there 3 days. She was very nice and friendly. They didn't get her any help with the number of our party. She got are drinks, chips and salsa, then took our orders and repeated back to us and everything was correct. We sat there an hour before we got our food and most of the order was wrong. That's when the problem started. One of our party ordered steak fajitas and his steak was so tough he could not eat it. The other table did not get all there food and I ordered cheese quesadilla with rice and salad. Asked about my order and I didn't get it until everyone had finished eating and I get my cheese quesadilla and rice but no salad. I asked about my salad and received it about 10 minutes later. I was eating my salad and one of the person from the other table came over to check if we got our food. When they saw I was eating a salad said OH NO so your the one they gave the salad to, it sat at our table a good 15 to 20 minutes after we told them we didn't order a salad. They didn't order it and was not going to pay for it and the waitress said the only way she could take it off if someone else orders it. The whole was wrong so the manager said the whole table was free. But that was not all the manager got on to the new waitress in front of the there table. My niece try telling the manager that it was not her fault and the manger got so rude and interrupted her and said your embarrassing me in front of my customers and I'm going to call the police on you. My niece told him she would like to talk to his boss the phone rang and he ignored her and answer the phone she waiting until he got off the phone and told him they would be waiting for the police outside. We paid our bill but didn't leave a tip. Waiting for the police but they never showed up. Worst night ever. I normally don't leave a review but this was totally uncalled for so I felt compelled to. Stay clear of El Acapulco in Pocahontas Arkansas. This was horrible and we will never eat...
Read moreI stopped in for lunch, passing through from Texas back to St Louis. Just wanted a quick lunch. It's a good thing the food was good and plentiful, it's the only good thing that happened here. Service was horrible, slow, and rude. After being settled in and given chip's and salsa, 15 minutes later I flagged down the chip lady and told her I was ready to order. 5 minutes later I ordered, chicken fajitas. After eating the chip's I waited. I was finally asked if I wanted more chips, I said yes please, chips and salsa. The chips came no salsa. Another person asked if I wanted more water, I said yes please and the salsa I was offered 5 minutes ago. Finally got it and waited. Another 10 minutes past and a plate of side food came, no chicken fajitas. I asked if this was normal. Yes, the grill is very busy. I waited 13 more minutes and finally got a very nice plate of chicken fajitas with my now cold rice and beans. At check out the manager ask if everything was good, I said no. I tried to explain, he cut me off and said we're very busy sorry for your wait. I tried to explain the bad service, he cut me off again and said we're very busy. Paid the bill, took my carryout leftovers and...
Read moreI've been to Acapulco many times ever since it opened up here in Pocahontas all those years ago. The waiters have always been friendly the food has always been good and the portion sizes are always generous.
I do have one critique based on my last visit though. I ordered some nachos and it had bacon in it. I noticed the flavor was a bit off for bacon and it was also a pretty big chunk. Looking at it closer I realized it was actually hog jowl.
I'm sure this is done to cut cost as bacon is a more expensive cut of meat than hog jowl. It also tastes close to bacon so it may fool some people.
However, this is wrong to fool your customers this way. If the menu says it has bacon on it, I expect bacon, not a cheaper, lower quality meat. That's like advertising steak but giving someone ground beef pressed into a steak shape.
At the absolute very LEAST I would have liked to have been told that the bacon was substituted with hog jowl when i ordered so that I could have made a different choice.
I still love Acapulco and I'll still go there, but needless to say, I won't be ordering anything that has bacon on...
