I wonder where they get their cooks from. As a local I have enjoyed many a meal at Lake Crescent Lodge over the years . Sometimes it’s good sometimes you wish you had stayed home as we did last night. The best thing about the evening was the excellent service provided by William. I had the salmon which in itself was done to perfection but salmon is best served with a baked potato or rice and a lovely vegetable. This was served with a wilted spring salad mix that had little bits of spiced pear and squash mixed in it with and I think I tasted a few sunflower seeds. All was covered with a thin squash reduction which was OK but nothing to write home about. In my opinion this is not the best way to show off fantastic salmon! My husband ordered the chicken which came with an obvious “scoop”of potatoes. .Alongside this was a generous serving of almost raw Brussel sprouts. All was covered in an undescribable sour-ish sauce made so because of the mushrooms and Kalamata olives Which I assume were in the sauce. We also had the crab appetizer which turned out to be Crab mixed with cream cheese and seasoned and topped with cheese. This was served with deep fried plantain slices which were OK but they were more like potato chips and in my opinion this should have been served with bread appropriate for dipping. I also had a cup of clam chowder which was wonderful and my husband have the cheddar broccoli soup which needed help. Add two glasses of wine to this menu and a generous tip for William and we used up the better part of $200. Oh I forgot to mention , we were continually entertained all evening by a swarm of blackflies which were trapped in the corner beside our table . Since this restaurant closes for several hours between lunch and dinner and effort should have been made to round...
Read moreStopped in for a quick bite to eat while exploring the park over the weekend. The lunch menu stopped at 2:30 so while there was a short wait for a table (and we were short on time) we opted to sit in the lobby bar.
There are only four barstools and luckily two were open. The next 45 minutes was spent completely stressing out for the poor bartender who was basically the bartender, bar back, barista, DJ and clerk. She was making drinks for inside the restaurant, trying to get through the queue, all while serving us at the bar. Whew, I felt so bad for her but she did the best she could with a smile!
The food itself was fine. Honestly it wasn't as good as the food I had at Sol Duc yet had a higher price tag. The caesar salad was fine, standard caesar, but the chowder was more of a potato and bacon soup with clam juice. No full bits of clam to be found.
The beer list was pretty good, at least they had Bodhizofa from Georgetown, and they'd serve it to you in either glass (for inside) or plastic (for outside.) You can also order takeout during any open restaurant hours for dining out by the lake or to take on your hike.
Overall, it was nice to sit in the historic lobby but I'm not rushing to...
Read moreWe had high hopes for dining here, especially at the price point of this place. But the experience was a major letdown. We ordered the Clam Chowder, Chef’s Choice Pumpkin Soup, and Spicy Shrimp Pasta. The chowder and soup were mediocre at best, but the pasta was shockingly bad. It unlocked new levels of blandness—no seasoning, undercooked, and utterly tasteless. I’m baffled as to why the chef thought these dishes belonged on the menu. He seems utterly incapable of executing even basic flavors.
The service was equally inconsistent. The hostess was welcoming and accommodating, and the bartender was lovely and attentive. But the waiter was a nightmare—completely unprofessional and rude. When we tried to request an additional table for our group, he deliberately separated the tables, ignoring us trying talk to him repeatedly to requests to keep them together. His behavior was dismissive, making us feel invisible.
The only redeeming feature is the beautiful location. The view is stunning, and the sunset is worth staying for. But don’t bother eating here. The food is wildly overpriced, lacking any finesse, and just not worth it. Skip the meal, enjoy the view, and save yourself the...
