Along the sandy shores of Michigan you might stop off for a bite. In this post covid price gouging world you'll be hard pressed to find a local restaurant that offers good fresh food, great prices, a welcome atmosphere, AND games for the kids to help stretch their legs. However you can find all this and more at the Lake Street Local. The chicken tenders that my kids had were hand made. The pizza was a delicious Detroit style delicacy. Ooohh man, and after a few hours on the road relax with one of their long Island teas that will for sure get you on a right state of mind. Either eat inside or out on their patio. We met the owner, their mother, and wife while relaxing out on the patio as my kids played on their oversize chess board and oversized connect four. Everyone was very friendly and extremely accommodating. Kids meals were 5 bucks and adults were around 10. Can't beat that for a vacation destination.

Stopped here when we were on a camping trip. We decided to explore Port Austin and found this cool spot. What first grabbed our attention was the pirate ship vibes at the ordering counter outdoors. We knew we had to stop in. We ordered 2 beets and loaded fries. The fries were amazing! So delicious. Now, I did give 4 stars because the wait at the end to get our check was a bit long because even though there were many servers there, my server seemed to disappear. The reason was that they were in the middle of a shift change but it still feels like I should’ve been able to get my bill in a decent time.

This is my second visit. My first visit was not the best experience but I came back to try again. We sat outside this time. I couldn't believe there was a french 75 on the drink menu so I was SO excited. The bar tender and waitress were so friendly and very attentive. The spring rolls with Thai chili sauce was delicious. The reuben sliders were AMAZING! We split the order with coleslaw and sauerkraut and both were the BEST I've had! My new #1 reuben. The fried pickles order was a huge amount and really good. I can't wait to come back again and order the reuben sliders!

One of the worst experiences we ever had! My friends & my family, including my dad who has terminal cancer came in to watch a football game a couple of days ago. No one else was at the Lake Street Local bar section except us & the bartenders family. The bartender was extremely nice & turned on the game on the TVs. However, the manager, Emily came in & changed two of the channels to something else & turned down the sound by saying it was policy. Our family & friends tried to persuade her again by politely saying there was no one else watching tv & that again no one was in the bar section. The bartender even said to Emily S. that these are the only people in the bar & that all other patrons were outside. Emily did not concede. The bartender then said IF she would say something again to Emily that she would have problems. Our friends & family asked to see the the owner & he was extremely rude & treated us like we were outsiders when we were only trying to enjoy our vacation. My wife, friends & family were upset. The owner completely backed Emily which we eventually found out was his girlfriend! We ate, the food was good but expensive & then were told not to return. Please don’t visit this place. Owner & manager are not up to good things. Owner is very protective of manager & does not support customers./ you can see by his response how unprofessional and angry this owner is by calling customers trolls. He simply could have apologized. This establishment is not kind...

Stopped in for lunch today and this place is by far probably the worst eatery I’ve ever experienced. There were absolutely NO Covid precautions being taken AT ALL. No one wearing masks (even when getting up and walking around), no social distancing...not even the wait staff wearing masks at all. The tables were all dirty and weren’t cleaned off until after we sat down. The whole place looked dirty—the kitchen staff weren’t wearing gloves or hair nets of any kind—just a giant health code violation all together. We ordered something simple—a small cheese bread and a Philly cheese steak. We never got silverware and, other than the waitress taking our order, she never came back to our table except for one time when she thought we were other patrons who ordered something completely different. In the 50 minutes we sat and waited for our food (or service of any kind), we watched as the kitchen and wait staff argued over who got what order and running back and forth from the kitchen to outside. No communication at all. We also watched the bar tender get 4 drink orders completely wrong. After 50 minutes of being completely ignored, we got up and left. Ultimately, the entire staff was ill equipped to handle the amount of patrons they had, nor were they trained well—the fault falls in the management. Hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had and will not be returning, nor do I recommend to anyone. If you come to Port Austin, just avoid this...

We had gotten a tip that this was a good place to get perch. Boy were they wrong! Terrible food and terrible service. From the moment we arrived in the patio area, the wait staff treated us like it was a a real hassle to help us. Nothing we ordered was fresh and and it took forever to get it. Multiple times we ordered drinks and they never arrived. They also did not inform us that they charge for water! We didn’t know until we got our bill will a lovely extra $5 tacked on. The fried pickles were not fresh and clearly their fryer was not hot enough when they dropped them in, because they were just soggy and gross. The perch was the worst food-wise. All three orders of perch at our table tasted like the bottom of a river and were full of bones. Again, the breading was soggy and not crisp. It seems like the perch was old! The pizza that we had ordered took forever, only to be informed that they had served it to someone else by mistake. Then when they made a new one, they put ham all over it, when we had specifically asked them NOT to put ham on the pizza. None of the waitstaff or management wanted to take responsibility for anything that occurred. So, we just paid our bill and will never be back. I’ve also already warned several people to never visit this establishment while in Port Austin, because they aren’t deserving of...
