The restaurant is located inside a gated community. Outside visitors are welcome during business hours. I was hoping to find something a bit more endearing than what I ended up with. First off, all bets are off if you cannot get eggs prepared correctly in a breakfast establishment. Im weirded out by running yolks, and the eggs were ordered over hard. The hash browns leave much to be desired. Patrons can do better at Josephine's or Isabella's Cafe if you prefer a local dive. El Jefe's has more character and great breakfast pork chops. Signature Grill likely has a lock on the local gated community for ease of drawing in patrons of the golf course; hence, the restaurant need not compete, innovate, or grow in the same way other establishments would in the main community. The coffee was good, bacon was good, and I appreciated that beans were on the menu; however, they were bland. The entire meal reeked of bland. Chicken and waffles anyone? Sorry. So, I will not judge the restaurant entirely on this sole experience and will return to try a different plate before rendering final judgement. Wait staff was adequate and not overly friendly. The moment runny eggs were visible to proper waitstaff, this should have set off corrective actions for sake of customer satisfaction. Anytime there's large remnants of food on a plate should trigger, "how was everything?" None of that. I did not complain and was appreciative of the restaurant. This review will be the guide for future or existing patrons. The surrounding patrons were mostly retired folks in the gated golf community that had a whiff of belligerence in their rather loud conversations... I'll hold out further judgement until I return. Until then, readers might find better options in Port Isabel proper or even better, scenic, options on South Padre Island here in...
Read moreI would rate this place 10 stars if I could. This place has amazing food and you can't beat the prices. My youngest is an extremely picky eater but she devoured her food. It is inside a gated community so it is a little bit of a pain to get in but so worth it. The owner/ cook makes the best food and is willing to go off menu to make things that people enjoy. Whether you live in the area or you're here on vacation you have to visit this place. They are only open for breakfast and lunch so plan accordingly. You won't want to miss a chance to eat here. (The huevos rancheros are the best I have ever eaten.)
UPDATE Our last day in the area we went for lunch. I have no words that could possibly do justice in a description. There was not 1 dish out of 4 meals that we were disappointed with. Everything was absolutely amazing. I'm not a picky eater but I am very much an opinionated critic of food. I have absolutely zero complaints. This place is family owned and run. They are super nice and friendly. I can't emphasize enough how absolutely delicious the food was. With 6 of us we are used to large food bills at The Signature Grill we were not only happy with the food we were also pleased with the price. This is a must try place!!!! This small business deserves the support....
Read moreWent to eat breakfast 7-3-22 at round 10:30 am with friends and family we were a party of 5 and of Hispanic race. Once we walked in no one greeted us. We stood around and waited because the place was full. Another family walked in of white race and they were greeted immediately and advised they would be attended. We waited for half an hour and the staff was trying to seat the other family who arrived after us when we advised we were there first and needed a table for 5 the man told us “we only have this table for 4 so figure it out. I have that family to seat as well” ignoring us to try and seat the other white family. I’ve never felt so much racism close to home. Worst service I have ever experienced. Didn’t get the name but it was a short Hispanic older male...
