This is a beautiful course in the mix with the many in the area. McCormick is a one way track in a way that none of the holes are next to one another. Walkable but the distances between holes will have you wanting a power cart if not for the sake of making the course shorter than what it already is but to keep pace if you're playing with riders. Challenging with elevation, hazards, and out of bound areas on both sides. The yardage book might help in this, available at the pro shop for a few dollars.
Now the cons... Because of the distances between holes, naturally the walking golfers will take longer than those in power carts. Compound that with say slower or shorter players and naturally the pace slows down. Enough so that our 9am tee time finished 5 hours later. There was one point where 4 tee times were on the same hole, this is unacceptable by any course but especially for one that charges at the rate they do for the weekends. The only way around this would be to space the tee times further apart AND to have the pace kept on time by the staff.
All in all this is a great course to play, if not at least once because it is a nice course within a quiet community of homes. However, until they have the pace worked out it will not be my first choice...
Read moreRMG states that they have clear cut a lot of old growth on The Classic, Oakbrook & McCormick Woods due to moss infecting their greens. Anybody familiar with the greens & golf in the PNW could debate this move & the grass choice they use for their greens in the first place.
Clear cutting has absolutely nothing to do however with the fact that you are lucky to find a patch of grass to hit off of in their fairways as most of them are dead hardpan & if you happen to not find the supposed fairway you are subject to anything including plenty of embedded rocks to chip your irons.
When questioning the pro shop manager about the condition of the course she stated that every course in the area was the same, which is just not true, and felt as if $60 to play this repugnant golf course was appropriate.
It's one thing to go through transition & try to improve a product, but totally another to have no integrity while doing so. RMG should extremely lower their green fees & notify all customers of course conditions when...
Read moreJust paid $97 to play here with a cart and no range balls. I can definitely say the round is nowhere near that value. We played in just under 5 hours and the marshal said we were on pace all day. Waited every single shot. The course layout is super funky and not a championship style layout. Tees are my biggest gripe because they don’t even cut them and they’re twice as long as the fairways. Aesthetically they don’t look good either with huge sand patches in almost every single one. The maintenance team didn’t even line up the black tee markers and someone’s they would just be laying on the tee box as if they were tossed on there from a distance. It just feels like McCormick Woods takes your money, waves you out of the pro shop and disappoints you for the rest of the day. I’d suggest avoiding this place and leave it for the locals who...
