Let me start raving about this delicious restaurant! It’s THE hole in the wall you’ve been looking for. We went last week and they were packed! (A great problem to have). We ordered ropa vieja with tostones and sweet plantains. The portion is very generous and filling for one person. You could also share if you please. Our 9 & 7 y/o had the Cuban sandwich and split it because it’s a good portion for 2 kids to share.
Let me get to the best part of our experience-the service. The manager went above and beyond to help us get set up and got us a high chair for our baby. She came around afterwards to ask us about the food since we had some food restrictions and made sure we felt good about the food (I can’t have rice or iodine). So, I asked about some of their ingredients, at which I was extremely surprised but they use sea salt for their food! Which gives me peace of mind to know that what I’m consuming outside of my house are the same ingredients I use in my kitchen. My husband is Cuban and he was extremely grateful to find out that they not only use sea salt but also use fresh vegetables and cooked the day of! Also - they have a BERKEY!!! iykyk!!! First time we go to a restaurant that actually practice what they preach about caring for the health of their customers! We can’t wait to make this our go to “feel at home” restaurant often! Everyone in PSL should go and enjoy the flavors of this Cuban cuisine. Enjoy healthy Cuban food with 0 guilt, and enjoyment. Your tastebuds will thank you later! The environment is super homie and usually super packed! Thank you for your...
Read moreVisited for the first time this cafe very conveniently located in my local Publix plaza. Welcome the new choices in ethnic foods coming in to PSL, and Cafe in Havana is no exception 😋. My party of 4 loved their beverages from fresh juices to authentic latin coffee -- just for that alone it's worth a 2nd trip! My party's choice in meals varied from a simple greens salad nicely plated, breakfast dish, cuban sandwich and steak dish. The menu provided selection for all palates. The salad satisfying, the Cuban sandwich authentic. The palomilla steak dish fell a little short -- the beans and steak lacked in flavor. Frankly, my latin beans ranked much higher said my teen. And steak was under-seasoned. This is latin food, usually much more elevated in flavor profiles. The picadillo in the Havana eggs dish was amazing and the eggs cooked to order. The Cuban bread panini pressed to soak up the picadillo was delicious complement to the dish. The service warm, inviting and with a smile. The place clean and nicely decorated with a large mural of Cuba culture covering an entire wall. I would definitely give it another try -- just more flavor on the steak and beans please! Welcome to the...
Read moreMy son and I decided to give this Cafe a try. Its right next to us and by our publix. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the authentic cuban cuisine delicious but the breakfast items were as well.
My son ordered the Ropa Vieja breakfast, and I ordered the Cuban Eggs. These dishes come with a mix of cuban staples and the normal breakfast fare. The Ropa Vieja was sweet and spicy, and my son said the potatoes and eggs were some of the best he's ever had.
My Cuban Eggs came served on homemade corn grits with some savory ground beef like empanada filling. It was absolutely delicious. The grits were creamy and played well off of the meat. Both of us also ordered the Bombom Coffee, which is cuban coffee with sweetened condensed milk and foam. It was perfectly balanced and hit the spot.
We also ordered croquetas, empenadas and guava pastries to go. These made a tasty and filling snack later on.
All in all, this was an amazing experience. The cuban food was on point, the breakfast items were delicious, and the pastries were to die for. If you want to have an awesome breakfast with a cuban flare, Cafe in...
