Oh. My. Deliciousness!! I had heard great things about this restaurant a handful of times over the past few months, but I donāt live in town, so I finally made a little trip to Porterville and checked out Redwood Taphouse. The only regret I have is that I didnāt make the trip sooner. So, here we go! I had the Redwood Burger (without bacon), house salad, and sweet potato fries. The burger was 10 stars. I told my best friend, āThis is the BEST burger Iāve had in⦠I donāt even know when.ā The flavors were POW! So scrumptious! The sweet potato fries? drool Perfectly crispy and crunchy on the outside. The portions were perfect, I took some leftover fries home. I canāt tell you much about the salad other than I took a couple bites and then I hit that burger and BAM!, I slid that salad over to the other side of the table. Hahaha⦠My best friend had the sampler. The queso that came with the chips was āmoan nā groan good!ā The smokehouse wings were delicious, especially dipped in the house ranch. The potato skins were just as good in my air fryer the next day when we warmed them up. My best friend gave her sampler 5 stars! (I did too- and I sampled everything. lol) The service from Gregory was very pleasant and the host was so nice and warm while seating us. 5 stars without hesitation, and I will be back⦠soon! Compliments to the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRedwood Taphouse looks amazing, but the food and service fell short. Don't get me wrong, the place is beautiful, but that's it. Period.
The chicken dish, served in big, hot skillets, came out cold. It looked fancy, but it wasn't hot enough to enjoy. The taste was a little gross, the cold cream sauce was unappetizing, especially for the price (entrees were $20-35).
The chips and salsa, which should be easy to get right, were disappointing too. The chips were old and the salsa tasted bland, like something you'd buy at the store. It was watered down with no taste. The waitstaff didn't come by our table very often to see if we needed anything.
When we were done eating, a young busser stood by our table waiting for us to give them our plates. It felt weird because it seemed like they wanted us to clean up after ourselves! My family is really nice and they didn't mind helping, but it shouldn't have been like that.
To top it all off, the bill had an 18% tip already added on, even though the service and that food was dissnapointing.
Redwood Taphouse tries to feel fancy, but it doesn't deliver. The food was cold and bland, the service wasn't good, and the automatic tip made it even more expensive. You could have a much better meal for the same price somewhere else. Please do not spend a dollar at this place. They clearly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDisappointing. I've heard many rave about this place, but at this point I don't know if people are high or the place was just bad at my time of experience. First of all, the place calls itself a taphouse and the beer selection is poor at best. I can pick up 85% of the taps at the local gas station, don't even have to go to the fancy store with craft beer. Terrible beer selection.
The food, where to begin? I was with a large party and everyone's food arrived around the same time, yet mine was somehow forgotten by the kitchen, so I waited another 10 minutes. The food was cold, except for the burger. I ordered the Sequoia Burger which was supposed to come with pimento cheese and bacon jam, which were both non existent. The burger was overcooked, flavorless and it did seemed weird. I don't know if there is a filler or whatever they're using with their meat, but it was not a good patty. The Macaroni and Cheese was ice cold and bland, street corn exactly the same on top of being overcooked. I guess there is an aversion to salt?
Seems like a decent place to watch a game I guess, but I'd probably getting better food at Your Neighborhood's Grill...
