Great Wall Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Portland

First off, let me say don't go here if you are squeamish about health code violations. This place gets tons of them each year.

That said, I've never gotten sick or felt weird after eating here, and I've done it over a dozen times.

The buffet is ok - not a ton of variety, but a few reliably tasty dishes. The real win here is ordering takeout. The portions are great, the food is fresh, and once you know what you like, it's great. Some of the dishes are somewhat bland, but the szechuan chicken is quite good. Be sure to ask for extra hot chili sauce as it isn't very spicy.

I’ve ate here on and off for the last 20+ years every since it was on south meridian and main st. Every few years a different group of people come to run the restaurant usually from New York and the food never changes was always fresh and great. Unfortunately when the last group took over and then covid hit.
