Happy Day! - Juice, Smoothie, Acai — Restaurant in Portland

I came into Happy Day at 4 pm today with my sister. We’ve never been before so we thought to check it out. Upon entering the store, we weren’t greeted, but didn’t think too much of it. We waited at the counter for quite some time before one of the 2 girls working finally came to take our order (still didn’t greet us by saying even a simple “hi”, but did ask us what we wanted to get). We both ordered a smoothie. There was 1 other customer in the store. The other customer got their order pretty quick, and then for the next 10 minutes it was just me and my sister waiting in the store, with no other customers there. We were still waiting for our smoothies after 10 minutes. Then, 3 more people came in. 10 more minutes of waiting goes by, and finally our smoothies are ready after a whole 20 minutes of waiting. But, it’s not just our smoothies that are ready, it’s everybody else that came in after us’ orders as well. One of those customers even got a bowl, and their whole order was still ready at the same time as ours, even though we had ordered our drinks 10 minutes before any of them had even come into the store. I’m trying my best to not assume that race was involved in our mistreatment at Happy Day, but considering my sister and I are black, and the customers that came in after us were white, it’s hard to not assume that race was involved in this interaction today. Do better Happy Day :/. This was a one and done kind of experience for us today at this shop. We will not be returning. And I urge anyone reading this review to be cautious about what establishments they are choosing to support with their hard...

I so wanted to like this place. It had good reviews and photos of the food looked delicious. We got a Love Waffle and am açaí bowl (Fremont, I think, first on the menu). The food came in plastic containers to go, even though we were eating it there. An açaí bowl in a clear deep square plastic container? It looked so unappetizing. It actually tasted good, although it was strange to have granola on the bottom instead of one of the toppings - I only “discovered” it there when it was almost all gone. Only giving the second star for the ok taste of the bowl, although the blueberries on it were still frozen.

The waffle tasted heavy and dense and, again, looked very unappetizing in a plastic container with a lid. The place itself looks soulless - metal white chairs along the walls, a white couch that’s overlooking the street but no place to sit there and place your food. ...

I had take out from here maybe about two months ago , I ordered the morning bowl … absolutely amazing . And my mom ordered thee best toast … (avocado toast) … I have been dreaming about this toast since I can’t wait to get back home and order it 😊 place was amazing service was amazing … took a little time to get our food but totally worth it plus it was kind of busy they make everything right there juice and all so I loved it . My mom and I have will be making this our daughter mother date...
