I came in here recently to try a new spot to get some coffee and work. After I order, I ask the guy behind the counter what the wi-fi info is and he informs me that there is no wi-fi. Well, I guess I'm not going to get any work done, but that's okay, I'll read an ebook on my laptop until I finish my coffee then move on. At this point, an older woman walks in (she's the only customer aside from me) and starts a conversation with the guy behind the counter. Given how very small this place is, it's impossible for me not to overhear that they're both complaining about people who sit at coffee shops for a few hours to work. Really bizarre thing to get worked up about, especially since that seems pretty alienating to a significant number of potential customers, but whatever. I'm going to leave once I finish my coffee, as I said. The woman starts leaving, but on her way out, she stops a few feet away from me, points directly in my face, and addressing the guy behind the counter asks if I'm one of those people they were complaining about. I'm taken aback by such unexpected and unprovoked rudeness, so I just stare at the woman, not really sure what to say. She starts making mocking faces at me as I stare at her, then walks out. The guy behind the counter did not once say or do anything in my defense, and after the woman was gone he just went about doing whatever he does behind the counter when there are no customers. I left, and am not...
Read moreFun neighborhood coffee shop, service was indeed fast and the sign says they will make anything, just ask. I didn't have a coffee but it smelled better than the prefab chai that I did have. Some yummies in the case looked good. Went there to have a private chat and there was no way to be private--tables are close, line next to tables. Only one window nook table is away from the rest and somebody grabbed it while I was getting my drink, and somebody put a bag at the other decent table before they stood in line. So the regulars pin down their territory early. If I ever go in here again it will be for a coffee to go. The clincher: the bench seats are a bit too retro---horribly uncomfortable. The wooden chairs were better. The barrista earned the 4th star by being cool and...
Read moreThis place is definitely a step up in "mom and pop shop" feel compared to the Starbucks down the road. So if that is what you were going for, then it is settled! Their pastries have been good, but I am never very impressed with the drinks. They are all a little on the weak side, and that is just the all around flavors. The mochas are like warm milk with a weak chocolate and coffee flavor. It could be the roast they use, but I always think about how the drinks just don't have much flavor. Still, it is a nice place to have nearby when Grand...
