What can I say about Flo's? Lots!! If you've never eaten here your missing out on fresh food made to order while you wait & while you wait you'll enjoy the view! Flo's is located directly on the water of the Sakonnet River in the heart of Island Park Portsmouth RI. This establishment has weathered multiple hurricanes of years ago 38 & 54 which left this building submerged w/in the Sakonnet River. At 1 time there was a water level indicator on the front of Flo's but I noticed during my visit last wk that marker no longer stands. I have to say I was disappointed to see it had been removed so I asked the cashier unfortunately that employee had no idea what I was referring to. Now on to the food! Clam cakes are the best! They were the perfect golden brown, portion size was generous, not dripping in grease & deep fried to perfection lightly crispy. The menu is extensive everything from hot dogs, to the most expensive item is the large order of fried clams $$$$ over $30.00 & your only getting clams! This is not a sit down inside restaurant, its stand in line outside & eat at picnic tables, inside your car or on river wall or benches across the street. My favorite time to eat here is lunch, no wait! Enjoy the...

Seen a lot of positive reviews so for the 1st time trying out FLO'S in Portsmouth RI,and for being a big seafood guy i was Not impressed with the food at all. Great service and people... I had there fish & chips large size piece of fish but it had no flavor unless you drenched tartare sauce, ketchup, fries were good tho, also tried there quahog and it was just all bread dough and maybe if your lucky a piece or 2 of clams and pepper . Wife had "creamy clam chowder" as listed and she was upset that it was soooooo watery and packed with potatoes and hardly any clams and we also tried there 1/2 doz clam cakes another disappointment,Same thing very to little clams and all dough we had 1ea. And i was upset to throw the rest in the trash that's how bad it was not worth the money maybe we came in the wrong day or the wrong flo's? I found out about another flo's restaurant style in Newport were I heard good things about maybe that's were all the positive comments are coming from .. Have to try this place out hopefully it's better then the run down shack from...

Well...things have been changing over the years. I am going to base this review completely on clam cakes and stuffed quahogs. All of the basics in each item have not changed in many years. Chourico, quahog, peppers, onions, etc...I think the hey day of both was in the 70s, especially at Mac's Clam Shack out on the pier on Bowen's wharf. On Aquidneck Island, Flo's and Anthony's Seafood are basically the current standard. Unfortunately, these days, you will only get a vague rememberance of what a clam cake or a stuffie used to be. Basically, the chourico is minimal and the quahogs are about non-existent. The breading in both is made better with lemon and malt vinegar. I hate to say it, but after 50+ years of enjoying stuffed quahogs and clam cakes, I am about done with the local options. Probably need to hop over the Sakonnet bridge and give Evelyn's some service. I hate to write a bad review, but Flo's and Anthony's don't really...

Been to this plance more times then i can remember... Drive up to a lovely lil Togo or dine at a picnic tables under a tent or they have a few high top tabels with stools .... or jus go across the street to sit on the wall of the Beach .. spent 150 in total 6 people. Fish 2 large fried scallops, 3 chowder combo ,piece of fish , LG order of fried fish the scallops were a tad over done an the fish was not that great either .. an if you look at my reviewsi do alot of fish n chips from all over i .. i barely ate it shouldhave took picturesof what was left .. USUALLYthis place is best around but this time i was let down .. but ill try to go back before the season is over . Or SOMETHING,

In Portsmouth, RI overlooking the waters is this quaint, little walk-up seafood and burger dive. Nothing fancy, but the food being served is excellent! Everything is bagged to go, but picnic tables and bar height tables under tent cover are available for dining. Our group mostly enjoyed their orders. The misses were the crab cake sandwich which lacked meat and seemed to have been once frozen, and clam cakes which were like fritters, but without clams. The lobster rolls were very good, though buttered and without mayonnaise. I loved my cup of clam chowder and a small order of lightly breaded fried shrimp. Both were bountiful and filling.
