The last few times I went to Lefty’s, I was with my family, before my father passed away. I wanted to relive some happy memories, & have a good meal. Since those happy times new owners have acquired Lefty’s.
I have over twenty years’ experience in the food service industry, as a waitress & trainer. I’ve received awards for service excellence, worked in breakfast houses, clubs, & fine dining in Los Angeles & San Diego.
I was greeted by a pleasant hostess. At the bar I was greeted by Tanya, she was fast & nice. I told her I was not in a hurry. She poured a good margarita.
A different server took my food order, she did not greet me, she only said “Are you ready to order?” I ordered a ribeye with potato & salad for $37.99. I repeated I was not in a hurry. She seemed irritated; she did not smile once.
I had taken two sips from my margarita, when my server “plopped” down a bread & salad, & left without saying a word. The salad was mediocre & bread was delicious. I felt like I was in a breakfast diner. A $37.99 dinner is a treat, part of the treat is the service.
I was halfway through my salad when the server “plopped” my steak down. I said “I'm not ready for this. I feel like I'm being rushed". She said “I’m being efficient, medium rare steaks cook fast. I can put it under the hot lamp for you.” I said “I don’t want my steak sitting under a hot lamp, it will ruin the steak. A server should know how to time the main course, this should not be my problem, I specifically said I was not in a hurry. If I wanted my food all at once within 10 minutes I would go to McDonalds”. I was really upset, the only solution offered was the hot lamp. She repeated “I’m efficient”. She was angry, & left without another word.
A few minutes later a tall man appeared in the doorway by the bar, angrily staring at me.
I looked at my salad, & at my steak as it grew cold. The steak was very thin ½” like a breakfast steak, it curled at the ends, looked over cooked, tough, with a soggy potato. I can’t speak to the flavor, only the appearance.
I was trying very hard not to cry; I was embarrassed. I told the bartender I had lost my appetite, & didn’t want the steak, but would pay for what I ate. She closed my tab, & was pleasant.
After paying I noticed there were now two managers angrily staring at me from the door. I felt like I was getting bullied.
I felt terrible. I said to the bartender thanks for the great drink, and that I was sorry for the inconvenience. She said she understood.
I said the same to the server, & added that she could change her timing just a little, that I had been a waitress & had made the same mistake. She said “I don’t need any advice from you, my service was efficient & perfect!”
I began to cry. Then manager came up to me, & said in a hostile tone “Don’t talk to my girls, finish your drink & get out of here”. I was humiliated & felt threatened, I didn’t finish my drink, I left.
The manager did nothing, except get angry. Neither person understood the concept of service, or recovery or how to turn the situation into a positive. They received a complaint, took it personally, & chose to do nothing.
Restaurants receive complaints on a nightly basis, food gets returned for a variety of reasons, food loss is a part of anticipated costs. It is cheaper to take a small food loss than to lose a long-term customer, we had been customers for over 12 years. Timing is a skill that is honed, part of that is making mistakes.
A complaint presents an opportunity for improvement. It is how the complaint is managed that makes the difference. I gave three stars because of the professionalism of the Hostess/Bartender, what little I was able to eat, a good drink & other guests who seemed to be happy.
So, if you don’t mind being treated like you’re in a breakfast diner, getting your expensive meal too quickly & paying steak house prices for diner food, & McDonalds quality service, I recommend Lefty’s.
Just make sure if there is a problem with your meal you don’t say anything, they are just being “efficient” & you just...
Read moreIf you think this restaurant is serving good quality food you may be older than 60 years old. What an atrocious experience.
Also, I went here about a year ago and realized how poor quality this place was. Gave it some time and another chance today and let me tell you a very bad decision. Waste of money due to prices for the quality you receive. And then quality of the food is so poor.
What a expensive experience for crap. Texas Roadhouse is much better quality and less expensive. Not to mention they give you bread and peanuts and much better service
Let's begin:
This has been the worst food experience I have had in Prescott/Prescott valley areas. I go out to restaurants multiple times a week and have always had a strong value placed on quality and service. If it's a great experience they will hear about it if it's a poor experience they will hear about it. But this is by far the worst experience I have had in months.
I would avoid this place at all costs unless you want to feel like you just paid good money for less than hospital food.
If the manager reads this and feels like they want to reach out I would love to chat. I never expect compensation or a refund but this was truly an awful experience.
Will avoid any recommendations for this restaurant as now I have to be it multiple chances and they failed both times. Not to mention the reputation has gone down in the area since I have been here and I should have listened to those warnings.
The people who have left 5 star reviews. I just feel sorry for you. Maybe you have not experienced good quality or service before. Or maybe just like places like this and hopefully you can keep them a float because younger people like me moving to the area will not tolerate this. The clientele is much older here and that makes sense to me.
If you want to waste $120 here that is on you. I would truly recommend going elsewhere (Maverick gas station has better food)
I hope this will illicit a response because the owner should know the quality of food is so poor. And the cost is far too expensive for what you get.

Read moreI come to the area to visit family I have here and have been meaning to try Leff-Ts for a while. Man do I wish I tried it sooner.
We had a wait upon arrival. The hostess told us 20 mins but it took less than 10 & she was able to get us in a booth as requested.
Atmosphere is warm, comfortable and friendly. A rural America saloon vibe with lots of county elements and license plates everywhere, definitely a sit down dinner spot.
Staff was friendly and prompt for everyone we worked with. Restaurant was clean & seating was comfortable.
Now onto the good part, the food! We were started off with Bavarian wheat bread served with butter and apple butter. It was dark brown and a tiny bit sweet on its own. A tad crumbly but very good and not run of the mill by any means. We ordered the sampler appetizer for the table. Some of the BEST chicken wings I've had. Crispy outside and tender/juicy inside. Quesadilla had something else in it that changed it up in a good way. Zucchini I'm certain was hand breaded not bought frozen from a supplier, so good. The house salad is spring mix lettuce, cilantro & jicama. It was a nice change of pace from the usual salad. I ordered the 10oz ribeye. It was cooked exactly to my preference and perfectly seasoned. I didn't need to salt the steak or have any sauce to dip it. I am somewhat critical of how places do their steak and this may be the closest thing to a perfect steak I've had in a very long time. The mashed potatoes were good but the white gravy I got on them was very good. I'm not commenting on the other food since I didn't try it but the other meals did look good and the other people in my party were happy with their meals.
I'm only sad I wasn't in the mood to grab some photos but sometimes it's just you and the people that are the focus.
Leff-Ts you truly deserve a 5☆ review thanks for a great meal. Can't wait...
