"Would you like to tip the cook?" Why would I be asked to do this? This is the only place I've ever been to that boldly asks at check out if I want to tip the cook. Why in heavens name would I be asked to hand out more money to a person or persons who is already being paid to do the job their doing. I ordered a modest to go order, nothing extravagant or altered in anyway, I already paid the increasingly high price for the item, so why ask for more? When dining in a restaurant I am more than happy to tip my server for good service, and I'm very generous at that. But when I'm ordering a to go order in which they prepare and I pick up, they are just doing the job they are being paid for. And if the job is too difficult and they dont feeI they are being paid enough then they need to find a new job. I feel it's awful greedy for them to expect more than they are being paid for, and feel they have a great sense of entitlement and a lot of nerve to ask for more at checkout. They are the only restaurant in town that I've had do this to me and therefore I have taken my...
Read moreWhat a bummer. 40 minutest after ordering, we still hadn't gotten our food. My husband had to go, so he went to the front and asked if they could make it take out, paid, and left. Twenty minutes later, still no food. Not even chips and salsa (We were told they'd bring the chips and salsa out when the bowls were done being cleaned, but we never got any.) I went to the front and found our dinner had been sitting out. No one had called my name or anything. The food was mediocre. The enchiladas were tasteless, and the beans and rice tasted like salt. I will not be going back. If your looking for quality Mexican food and amazing service, go to Mis Amores.
I understand there are staffing shortages everywhere, but the employees here were careless and unprofessional. I waited for an hour and only saw an employee when we ordered. When I stood up to leave, there were 2 ladies doing nothing up front.
I feel like it was a waste of time and money...
Read moreI’ve gone to El Tapatio several times. It’s been our go-to Mexican place and it’s as good as you would expect for a small-town Mexican place.
After our last visit, however, I may pick a different place in Preston. The gal that took our order switched when she gave us our plates (my husband’s order went to me and vice versa). Absolutely no problem - we switched and ate our meal. When she came back, she asked why we didn’t like our meal, thinking we had switched plates for that reason even though we ate what we originally ordered. Cue our awkward laughter as we didn’t want to point out the mixup. I also asked for a side of limes and she asked in a disgusted voice why I wanted a side of limes with THAT (my meal). She also took away our half-full basket of chips in the middle of our meal. It was just an odd encounter in all.
Chips aren’t refillable (for free) and that has also been disappointing where it’s the norm for other...
