"Exceptional" That is the best word I can think of to describe this place. The layout, atmosphere, plateware, restrooms, and especially the food: exceptional. My family stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. There was no wait to seat 4, and Nancy greeted us with a smile and wowed us with her service from beginning to end. She engaged with the adults and my 5 year old with sweet familiarity. Almost like we had been friends for years. While waiting for our food we feasted on the atmosphere. The lighting is subdued but not dark, the furnishings are classy but not presumptuous. We enjoyed the chips and salsa and...beans! Those beans were amazing, and they gave a hint of what was coming. Nancy made sure my son receuved his food first as he was complaining about being hungry. That was a small touch that endeared her to us for the remainder of our visit. We started off with the street corn, and I can safely say it's the juiciests and most flavorful elote we have had in years. We received our entrees shortly after we were done with our corn, and the great experience continued. We ordered chicken enchiladas and the arrachera carne. The meat was seasoned perfectly and was so tender as to nearly melt in the mouth. The enchiladas were stuffed full of chicken and smothered in a wonderfully delicious sauce. We stopped short of finishing out plates because we had to try dessert. We choose the churros with blueberry ice cream. The churros arrived soft and hot with a crispy outside crust. The ice cream was creamy with a standout flavor I have never experienced. It was blueberry, but lacked the synthetic taste you get from a lot of fruit flavored ice creams. It was creamy and a refreshing end to our meal. Mi Chante easily became my family's go-to Mexican restaurant after this one visit. I look forward to what I get...
Read moreWe heard some good things and not so good things about the new Mexican restaurant Mi Chante in Prosper. We decided to check it out for ourselves. We decided to go on a Wednesday at 3:00pm. There was a couple cars in the vast parking lot, we wondered if that is a good thing? The hostess asked if we would like a booth or table, we wanted a booth. She then wanted to sit us at the small booth by the bar??? We asked for the larger booth. There was no one in the restaurant, can we sit at the larger booth please, unless you’re expecting a huge rush of people in the next 30 minutes. The waitress was very socially awkward. She kept coming to the table, telling how she’s never had calamari, but it looked really good. My husband felt so uncomfortable, that he offered her some to try, as she would not go away. My husband doesn’t have the best palate, but he asked if that even tasted like calamari? My answer to him was, you’re at a Mexican restaurant, ordering calamari is probably not the best choice for an appetizer. No one brought water to the table. I ordered an iced tea, my husband Pepsi. He had to ask 3-4 times for another one. Although, the waitress would just show up and stand at the table awkwardly asking random questions. We shared a combination fajita order. They brought us 4 of the smallest tortilla shells I have ever seen wrapped in wax paper. The shrimp was fine, according to my husband, I didn’t try the shrimp. The chicken was dry and the beef was fine. Nothing to write home about or brag to my friends about. The sides were non existent and we had to ask for some salsa sauce. I have to say that $25-$30 for the combination platter, barely enough to feed one person, way overpriced. We ordered calamari and shared a combination fajita order, paid almost $60. Overpriced and not...

When we first sat down the waiter was definitely overwhelmed and forgot to bring our drinks. So we went without drinks for about 20ish minutes. When we got chips brought to the table the chips were cold.
Like cold straight from the bag. So was the salsa.
The next batch of chips was like warm and the queso was barely warm. We also ordered calamari which was barely Luke warm.
My husbands enchaladas were good but definitely child sized. He asked for queso on top and it was cold and covered in sour cream.
I ordered the carne steak (can’t pronounce) but it wasn’t asada. It was good but cold.
Basically we had temperature issues with everything and they forgot to bring me a steak knife after asking multiple times.

The chairs are REALLY small. I’m pregnant and they sat us in a very small square corner in front of the restaurant. I could barely fit in the chair, and almost got stuck when I was trying to get up and leave. I had to push the entire table forward and almost knocked it over. I ended up crying in the car because of the embarrassment.
Cold air from the front door kept hitting our table (we were in the front) and it was FREEZING.
The restaurant was extremely loud. Louder than Texas Roadhouse loud. I could barely hear my husband and we were basically screaming at each other just to have a conversation. I could hear the table next to us clear as day.
So that was super frustrating.

Food was great but cold. It would be better if hot.
The atmosphere and overall experience is what ruined it for us. We probably...
