Date of review 6/27/2019 For me, most all American food diners fall into two ratings "Poor" or "Average." Unless they have something really special going on, to make them really stand out, I just can't get too excited about them. Fried everything with fries just gets boring.
However, based on the reviews I have read, I have been wanting to try the Don Thomas restaurant for some time.
The special today was one filet of fried catfish with two sides and a roll. One filet of catfish just didn't seem like enough, so I ordered two. For sides I ordered Cole slaw and fries. Surprise, the catfish fillets were big. One would have been enough. The fries were battered with a good crunchy coating. The slaw was homemade and it was very good. It was not too sweet and not smothered in mayonnaise. The catfish was perfectly breaded with cornmeal and deep fried exactly right. My wife had a hamburger, a good third pound burger, served with all the condiments and the same crunchy fries.
The service was fast and the wait staff was nice and friendly! It is a good place to eat in Pryor!

One server even swept up the floor with a broom while a couple was eating. This should never be done while people eat since dust and dirt can be swept up into someone's food. Most of the food was okay. (Nothing exceptional, but it wasn't expected to be.) The Chicken Fried Steak seemed to have been mass produced and processed like something you would find in a school cafeteria (perfectly shaped oval patty about 1/4-inch thick). Chicken Fried Chicken was pretty good. Mashed potatoes seemed fresh, not instant. Grilled shrimp was seasoned well. Onion rings were pretty good, but needed a little more seasoning. Rolls were dense, not fresh. My guest had a roll that was either dirty or beginning to mold. Fried okra was good. Gravy tasted like it may have come from a packet you mix together, like Shawnee Mills brand or similar. Overall, it was average. Service was good, attentive, and...
Read moreThe old Marquee sign gave us a little pause, the side door nearest the parking lot was labeled employees entrance only. Once we walked to the street entrance and inside your met with an uninviting brick wall, glass counter and a WAIT here sign.
A muscular well dressed young man was quick to seat us at a back table near the kitchen entrance, with menus and took our beverage order our waitress promptly followed. The menu was tastefully done with impressive photos of food items.
The waitress was very patient in explaining our meal selection's, we were more than impressed with the all day breakfast options, nearly unheard of in this past of the country.
Our food was quickly delivery despite the busyness of the restaurant and the plate presentation was picturesque.
I opted for the fish tacos and my wife three flat tortilla's, one of chicken, and two of different cuts of beef. The food was enjoyable and satisfying.
We will try not to judge a book by its cover. This establishment is definitely worth...
