Mom and I went to Momma Stortini's in Puyallup yesterday and had a fantastic experience. Mom is 96, so although she's sharp as a tack, independent, and healthy, she doesn't get around as well as she once did. The handicap parking is right up front and provides easy access, which is an important feature for us. We were seated at the closest table from the door, making it a nice, easy walk for mom.
Mike came and helped us. Mom ordered coffee, and I a Buffalo Trace straight up. Mom's coffee came fast, fresh and hot... even though it was after 3pm, when most places don't have a pot on, and if they do, it's been on since 11:30 tasting burnt and nasty. Mom's coffee warmed her up on that cold day, and she said it tasted great. Then my Buffalo Trace came, and this is how a bartender should pour a drink if they want repeat customers. I ordered a single, straight-up, and got what was easily a double. Yes Please! A good pour immediately makes me feel like this place wants my business.
Mom ordered the lasagna, and I ordered the Rigatoni Bolgenes, the large portion with two sausages. So... to be clear, I am on a perpetual Atkins diet that I modify now and then when either the mood hits me that I want to indulge in some carbs, or something presents itself to be irresistible, otherwise, I pretty much shun carbs and have a somewhat fit body to show for it. The weather having been a little extra cold lately, I felt the need to stoke my internal fire with some pasta... and oh my gosh, was it delicious! A little extra grated parm and some cracked black pepper over the top and A-mazing! I tried mom's lasagna, and it was fantastic as well.
After thoroughly enjoying our meal and the service, the check came. This is the make it or break it moment, right? I mean, sure... you can get great meals and fantastic service at your Michelin Star restaurants, but you're going to pay through the nose for it. Not at Momma Stortini's, friends. After two great pours of Buffalo Trace, two wonderful meals, great atmosphere, and attentive service, it was still a good deal under $100. So, while not exactly cheap, it was extremely affordable for what we got. Atkins be dammed, we're coming back for...
Read moreMy husband and I really enjoyed working with Mama Stortinis on our wedding food. We worked with Meryl and she was really good at responding and getting our pricing questions answered so that we could make the best decisions. The main reason why we went with this catering company is because it’s a preferred caterer with our venue. All of our guests seemed to really enjoy the food and we heard from so many people that it was delicious! As a bride, I was constantly balancing ways to save money and having the stress off of my shoulders. A few things that we did that helped with our catering budget was we purchased our own table linens. I’ll be completely honest – it’s actually cheaper to buy all of your linens and throw them away then it is to rent them. We decided to purchase crinkled tablecloths so we wouldn’t have to press them and they looked really lovely. We also purchased our own sparkling cider for toasts (we had a dry wedding) this saved us so much money because the cost to have the catering company provide this was $2.00/person while I got every bottle of cider for around that price. The only frustration that I had was in regards to drinks. We paid to have Mama Stortinis provide water/lemonade/coffee during our event but we were told a few days before that we should bring bottled water. I was under the impression that we shouldn’t have to deal with any drinks other than the cider but I guess they only have a certain amount per guest that they will supply for so if you are getting married on a really hot day, expect to get told to bring bottled water. Other than that we had a lovely experience with this caterer and we would totally...
Read moreMy husband & I decided to make this a date night, upon arrival we were greeted within minuets, it was after all a Saturday night & they were a bit busy. After a shot wait we were seated at a kind of awkward table, but it was still nice. Our server named Sam, who was very pleasant, clean & professional, took our drink & appetizer order & let us know he would be back with a bread plate which is some house made marinara & a French baguette. The marinara is amazing, the bread is a little bland, I wish they also served it with an herb butter, but that's okay. Then came our appetizers, I had French onion soup, no joke the best I've had in a very long time & most defiantly the best in Pierce county. My husband had Chorizo stuffed mushrooms, he said they were great! For our main course, he had the Chicken Parmesan that is served with an amazing tomatoes sauce on a bed of spaghetti, breaded in a nice savory crust, he said it was really good. I had the Fettuccine alfredo, again another knock it out of the park dish. The sauce was so creamy, you could taste all the flavors, rich butter, plenty of garlic but not to much. Oh so good. The place is clean, pretty & has all the amenities one could ask for. We lucked out & got there at happy hour!! Whoot. lol Clean nice ladies room, nice bar & Sam was as attentive as he could be with how busy he was. He was running. Over all I would recommend this place for sure, I want to go back just for another bowl of soup lol Sorry about the pictures, new camera that I don't know how to use yet. Ugh. Well I hope this review helps someone. Have a nice day. OH & they deliver for...
