When going out to dinner in these days when everything is pricey I want the complete package - great food - taste and presentation Coupled with exceptional service and the perfect atmosphere. I have high expectations. The atmosphere at Granite Links is spot on exceptional. It is a high end mix of comfy, cozy, with the perfect blend of elegance. We were greeted by two delightful and pleasant greeters at the hostess stand. We had a reservation and we arrived early. We were seated within 10 minutes of our scheduled reservation time. Perfectly reasonable. An attentive waitress who did not provide her name brought water as we were being seated and stood by waiting for us to sit and wanted our drink order. We asked for a couple of minutes to get settled and look at the menu . As requested she came back 3-4 minutes later and wanted our drink order. We also ordered 2 appetizers and asked to wait to order our entrees. Our appetizers, baked Brie and crab cakes arrived, nice and hot and a lovely presentation. As our appetizers arrived another waitress cruising by, still walking waved to us with whatever she had in her hand saying I’m going to be waiting your table. This was interesting and my friend said to me yikes, we just went from Fine Dining to dinner to being at “Mel’s Diner!” I had to get her attention as my friend and I agreed we would like a spoon or some utensil to scoop some of the warm Brie on to our bread and butter plate as desired rather than going back and forth to the main dish. This now nameless waitress who only notified us she was our waitress during that quick on the run brought a tablespoon, and said “there ya go a great big spoon for ya”, as she quickly pointed out no one has ever made that request before and found it to be odd. Ordering our entree I found it odd that the lovely classic cuts of beef when ordered came with no complimentary side and being the only one wanting to order a classic cut if I wanted a side, which I did I could only order a side for two. That put and end to that rib eye I decided on. My friend ordered the grilled swordfish and asked to substitute a baked potato in place of the rice. Our still nameless waitress said, “yup you can do that, but it’s gonna cost ya $5 bucks. That’s an upgrade fee”! (Thinking to myself I sure hope this waitress is a diamond in the rough and will do something to amaze us)! I got the marinated steak tips. I tried and tried to cut those tips with the only knife I had, my butter knife but they were tough. I need a steak knife, huh now how odd to serve steak without a steak knife! Couldn’t get the attention of nameless waitress but a very sweet young man clearing tables near us noticed us attempting to get the attention of our waitress. He asked if there was something he could help with and he got the steak knife. Not once, nope not even one time did still nameless waitress ever check in on us! Unacceptable even at Mel’s diner. My steak tips were flavorful and cooked to the right temperature but they were very tough! Our waitress finally swung by our table dropping a white piece of paper on our table and as she continued her walking she says,, “desert menu.” She came bask to ask if we wanted any deserts! At this point I asked her what is your name, she said it was Cheryl. Funny thing is once we were provided with her name Cheryl began to attempt to be more attentive . My friend got a peppermint mocha drink for her desert and I got a hot coffee. I asked if she could add two gift cards, each $50 to our tab, “ no you have to get those at the hostess stand and she is getting ready to close down “ As I reached for my walker, Cheryl said I can take her your credit card and she can come to you.” That was great! Thanks Cheryl for that kind act of service! All in all, atmosphere was great, Food was somewhat less than perfect Service - a diamond in the rough, truly a work in progress! Suggestions: more HP parking closer to the entrance. Offer a side with classic beef offerings Is it really a $5 up charge to switch fries...

The view great, the food not so great. We ordered calamari and it wasn't as described in the menu, now maybe that seems trivial, but it was pretty blah without the banana peppers, had better elsewhere. The waitress forgot to take my husbands order, there were five of us. We flagged her down and ordered his meal. The orders were a grilled lamb loin, it was just ok, nothing special. A chicken dish with pasta basil and it was very blah to me, nothing special, a burger which looked to be one of the better meals, a macaroni and cheese with buffalo chicken, while it tasted good, there was probably less than two ounces of meat in it, and I ordered a New York Sirloin Steak medium rare, you guessed it, well done, and I think if the steak had been a normal size and not so thin it might have been at least medium. Not a quality piece of beef in my mind. So I had them take it back and no I didn't want anything else for dinner. While I'm sure I seemed silly not to wait for another meal while everyone else ate, I didn't really want to be there longer than I had to. The waitress did what she could asking me what else could she get me, and the manager came over and although they were very sorry, it's to late. Nothing was awesome but the company and the views. When I can enjoy a steak at home that is just how i like...

Planned 21st birthday celebration for my son. I called ~10 days ahead for reservations. I expressed special night & looking for table with a view, etc. “no problem”. Even called few days ahead to double check & remind them. Arrived early for reservation & not only were we seated without a view but crammed into center of dining room where normally there are no tables! The main pathway for staff who could not get by & our chairs were bumped constantly. My son is 6’8” … not comfortable for any of my 6’ plus family🤨. Now the food??? My husband’s piece of swordfish was approximately 2x2inches .. the chicken on my dish was not even a full breast more like Cornish hen size with scant meat. Protein portions across the table were very small & not adult or comparable portions to other establishments. Last was service .., meals came out at different times, salads not timed with entree, table not cleared between courses and no one checked if everything was ok (it was not) & condiments arrived too late. Horrible evening & The Tavern did not care. VERY disappointed! Not returning & we used to eat there often especially for special occasions. I’d advise go elsewhere, especially...

Surprisingly good food here and at a decent price. Food here is of good quality, staff was attentive and friendly. Came here on a thursday night with the family to enjoy the view from granite links around sunset after dinner. The lobster roll my wife ordered was fantastic!! I had the seared ahi tuna on a bed of soba noodles which was very tasty. Kids had their usual kids meals on the menu, aka pizza. Overall price was great considering what we ate. Wait for food was not long. Would go back for sure.

Part of Granite Links Golfcourse. We were here for a birthday dinner celebration. Ordered Ssteak & cheese spring rolls and coconut shrimps for appetizers. The spring rolls were crunchy and fresh but not much flavor. Coconut shrimps came with a sweet thai sauce. Shrimp scallop pasta - creamy big portion. Shrimps were huge. Comes with a poached egg but mine was overcooked; the yolk was not runny. The carrot cake had too much frosting, making it too sweet. The birthday dessert is not comped.

The help at the Tavern are as always solicitous of their guests needs. They give to each guest the impression that he/she is the most important person in the room. That and the magnificent views of the distant Boston skyline more than compensates for it’s less than outstanding menu, but then again as it name suggests, it does not pretend to be other than what it’s name suggests. Informality is both the dress code and the atmosphere at the Tavern located at The Granite Granite Links.
