I spent a few hours at Speakeasy today. Overall very pleasant. The supply chain perhaps seems a bit strained. It is a Friday and they didn’t have any milk this morning during the 9-10am rush. That seemed odd. Fortunately, I have no issue with oat milk or almond. The food was overall satisfying. I tried the cheesecake which was excellent and creamy like I prefer. The fruit cup/container was pretty good but some of it seemed past its prime - especially the blueberries that were turning a shade of gray. Also was looking to try a couple beverages. The flat white with almond milk was great - no complaints; the strawberry banana smoothie was pretty good too.
I asked where the coffee was sourced and the lady wasn’t sure; said maybe San Antonio. The quality of the bean definitely seemed above average and I would go back and try a few more coffee drinks next time I’m in town. As you can see in the videos, this place is huge and felt very spacious and easy to hang out in a peaceful nook or mingle with others....
Read moreI love this coffee house. The staff is very friendly and quick, they make a great cup of coffee and I’ve enjoyed a few cookies as well. Try the lemon cookies they are delicious. I enjoy the Americano which they prepare very quickly. There is a large parlor with separate sitting arrangements, large and small, so I can go read a book or go with a few friends and there is plenty of room for all situations. Many local newspapers and weekly circulars are available and local businesses and churches and volunteer groups use the bulletin boards to get their message out. The decor is really quite neat. There is a 1920/30s style and it lends well to the name of Speakeasy. It is not a romantic place but it would be a great place to meet for a get-to-know-you date. Young people and older people hang out here but I don’t see a lot of kids running around. I highly recommend checking out Speakeasy if you need a cup of coffee or a fresh...
Read moreArrived 7 minutes before closing, the baristas did not greet me and seemed upset that I was there. I greeted them & told them I wasn't staying since I realized they were about to close, just ordering to go. I got the egg salad sandwich (really yummy) and an iced ernest Hemingway, fast, easy order, ready in 2 min. Left a tip & got it to my car to discover they left the espresso out of my drink & put a sleeve on hoping I wouldn't notice . I payed 6 bucks for salted caramel milk. I used to work at a coffee shop, I get that it's frustrating when you've cleaned everything and someone shows up. But if you don't want to serve people who are being kind & saying they are aware of your closing hours, then hopefully this review and management will make the baristas understand that their job is to serve people coffee until closing, whether or not they want to. I...
