Been going here 30+ years. The chicken is to die for! Also get chicken livers, pork chops and hamburger steak dinners. Sorry to say that I've never tried their fried fish but after reading the reviews I'm going to be trying the cat fish. Sides we usually stick to mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra, cole slaw and french fries. Never been disappointed in those. I live in Valdosta now and have a doctor I love in Quitman so I always stop and take dinner home after my appointments. The owner is great but don't see him there much any more. At least one of the ladies has been there since I started eating there. She seems to always keep things running right and food is still GREAT! I go there most anytime I pass through Quitman. Only word of caution is during high school football season they are twice as busy as normal. Looks like a lot of very large orders for tailgating. It took longer the day I was caught up in that but I waited and my food was great as usual. If you haven't tried JJ'S go order some of the best fried chicken...

I do not live in Quitman but saw this place on line and decided that’s where we would have dinner, short drive, cool! Get there and see that you can eat in and so we got a menu. When everyone in my party got inside we went to sit down. Upon sitting the woman behind the counter holler out” hey what y’all trying to get, we are already closed?”. I looked on line and it said they closed at 8 and it was 7:30 when we arrived., nothing else was said. As I began to walk out I asked for a take out menu and it was about ALL she could do to get that for me. I read the reviews and maybe Sis was just having a bad dayBUT I too work i. Food service and I knew how much money I was about to spend and this attitude will keep me and my family from ever...

We use to absolutely LOVE eating and supporting local businesses, especially here! But lately the service doesn't even deserve the tip of one of these stars! I ordered an oyster dinner to go and had to throw the entire meal in the trash, yes it was that disgusting! Being that my husband personally knows the owner and family, we waited a bit and tonight gave it another round. I have you know I ordered the shrimp dinner this time, remembering the disaster from the oysters. Well I will just say after REMAKING the coleslaw, it was the best thing on a "THROWN" together plate! I called and the lady said they were closed and I should call back at 8:30 in the morning to talk to the owner because they doing the best...

We stopped in because we couldn't find another place for dinner. We loved the food! The fish and shrimp were hand breaded and deep fried. The fish was a little dry but everything else was excellent! My favorite were the hushpuppies. OMG! They were the best part of dinner. Everything tasted fresh and made from scratch. If we're ever in town again, we will definitely be back.

Flounder and oysters were great. Sweet potatoes were not a favorite. Corn was not sweet corn but that's a hit or miss everywhere. Love coming in with a smile greeted each time. Okra was a hit as well. Last time I ate here I had chicken and catfish. Both great meals.

Interesting lil spot. Visit at your own risk. Seemed to be a nice town, but half the workers were polite and the other half...not so much. The chicken was pretty good. Definitely home style, but the sides (Mac and cheese and green beans) were bland.
