Peralta's Authentic Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Quitman

Set in a converted home, it has many rooms. Some with tables and booths, some set for larger parties. Noisy, but a homey feel to it. First, the salsa was TERRIFIC! A little different flavor to it than the normal tomato or tomatillo, jalapeño and onion, all covered in cilantro. NO, something else that's tasty and sets it apart.. The food was pretty good, but the menu shows shrimp on the combo fajitas for two, there were none. There was basically a single combo fajitas plate (minus shrimp) for one, but served with tortillas and accouterments for two. NOT MUCH MEAT. The flavor was really good though, tender and well cooked. The quality had a good flavor. No margaritas at this Mexican food establishment. :( The waiter was very hurried. No conversation, or taking any time at the table. Kind of rude when my wife asked for a drink listed on the menu, but they don't have it. He dropped the ticket and ran, missing the opportunity for the resteraunt to upset. We called him back to order sopapilas. Not you standard sopapilas straight out of Mexico or the Caribbean. These were crispy fried tortillas instead of the puffed up dough. They were covered in cinnamon and sugar, accompanied by honey. Definitely order these.

I do not ever write bad reviews on anyone and in fact this is my first bad review I've ever left. I have never had such rude and disrespectful service. 6 of us showed up an hour before closing and it was obvious they were not happy about it. Over and under cooked food and was cold when it came out. I asked for no onion(lady rudely told me they dont put onion in that dish) and guess what was in the middle of my food.. the biggest slice of raw uncooked onion I've seen, guess they thought it was funny. Instead of green peppers on one plate they put burnt red tomatoes. Oh and I guess their cherry on top was the nice black hair on another plate. Disgusting! Today, 7.23.2017, was the worst experience I had ever had since beginning to eat at this restaurant. My usual is the Beef Fajita Chimichanga. Well, today, I ordered my usual, but received a Chicken Fajita Chimichanga instead. After letting the waitress know, I received another chimichanga, but, it was another chicken. "Third time is a charm", and it was finally made right. I should have known something was amiss when I told the girl I wanted beef twice before she asked, "Do you want chicken?".
