We’ve officially added Macarena Pizza to our Top Pizza Places list — and it’s now #1 according to my son, our resident cheese pizza expert! 🍕 He tried a personalized pizza with pink sauce (his first time), and let’s just say it was a game-changer. I told him it was like mayo-ketchup but in pizza form (his favorite), and he was hooked. Extra cheese on top, and nothing else — simple, delicious, and now his absolute favorite. Partner and I shared two pizzas: Macarena (pepperoni, onions, and hot honey) — absolutely delicious! The onions added a different kick than your typical hot honey pepperoni combo. Frida (pesto, cherry tomatoes, onions, ham) — flavor perfection. The sweetness of the cherry tomatoes and pesto perfectly balanced the salty ham and onions. Every bite was a party of flavors. As a pizza-loving family, we take our bread and cheese seriously — and Macarena nailed it. The pizza dough is spot-on, and the mozzarella is high-quality and melts beautifully. Appetizers? Must-try! The garlic knots are next level — seriously amazing. The mozzarella sticks were huge (literally two giant ones cut in half) and unlike your typical version — super shareable and satisfying. The ambiance is casual, cozy, and family-friendly, filled with funny pizza-themed signs. My son’s favorite was: “Do Not Disturb, you better have pizza.” He already wants it for his bedroom door 😄 We did wait around 45 minutes for the pizzas after the appetizers, but honestly — it was worth it. For everything we ordered (3 pizzas + apps + drinks), we paid a very fair $68. We’ll definitely be back — especially for my son’s beloved pink sauce pizza. Macarena, you’ve earned your spot on the official family pizza ranking!

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Pizzeria La Macarena, and I must say, this new pizza spot in Rio Grande really hits the spot! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for a casual meal. The menu features a great variety of pizzas. We tried the “Macarena and Leo,” and they were surprisingly fantastic! My favorite part was the crust—it was perfectly thin and crispy, just how I like it! One of the best things about Pizzeria La Macarena is that it’s incredibly family- and pet-friendly! I went with my family and friends, and the atmosphere was great for our gathering. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we were well taken care of. This small pizzeria packs big flavors, and it’s clear the staff is very passionate about what they do. Overall, Pizzeria La Macarena is a fantastic addition to the Rio Grande dining scene. With great food, a cozy atmosphere, and attentive service—plus the bonus of being kid- and pet-friendly—I can’t wait to return and try more of their homemade pizzas. Highly recommend checking it out!

Finding this place was like finding a diamond in the rough. I didn't know it existed. We first ordered the Macarena pizza. I was skeptical about hot honey on a pizza. I am a Pepperoni, Cheese, Meat Lovers or Margherita type of fan. First off, the honey sauce is spicy but barely even noticeable, they compliment eachother very well with the sweet and spicy. There is just a hint of a bite but not too much. Second off the sautéed onions are soft and delicious. Like the other review, this pizza is 🔥!! After just taking a bite of this pizza, We decided to order a second pizza, the Catalina pizza (which is like a Margherita pizza) This pizza is also delicious. I honestly couldn't decide which one is better. My partner likes the Macarena pizza. If you want a good authentic homemade pizza, then this is the place to go. Great automosphere, love the nostalgic alternative music, great food and beer to pair with. The people that own and operate here are super friendly and great to conversate with too 😊 Great for a date night, night with the family or friends 💕
