Thai This Express — Restaurant in Radford City

This is my all-time favorite restaurant in this area and in any other. The staff are the kindest people you'll ever meet, they ask you your name and remember it if you come back a couple times. I eat at Thai This pretty often and have never been disappointed. Everything is always fresh and full of flavor, they use really good ingredients, and are always willing to tweak something a bit if you ask (I always ask for everything extra spicy). The spring rolls are amazing and I wish I could buy a gallon of the sauce that comes with it. All of their curries are great, full of warm spices and never bland. The fried tofu rice bowl is one of my favorites, with all kinds of good veggies and crunchy fried tofu where could you go wrong? The tom yum soup is out of this world, lots of sweet and sour lemongrass and coconut flavor, big chunks of chicken, and they don't skimp on the veggies. The shrimp noodle bowl is packed with lime and if you get it thai hot I think the lime really compliments the heat. By now, I think I've pretty much tried every item on the menu, and I have never gotten something I didn't like. Sure I have my favorites, but you can pretty much choose anything and expect to get a great meal (for a really good value, no tiny portions found here). I once again cannot overemphasize the wonderful service you will experience here. Everyone is always happy to see you! The owners are the sweetest people you'll meet. The owner's mother often works in the kitchen and loves to come out and tell you what they have in the works for new menu ideas. They have specials pretty often and their menu rotates day to day. Lately (within the last couple months) they've been having a lot of new menu items as specials, testing out new recipes, and although I haven't been able to go every time there's a new special, what I have gotten to have has been so good. GO there! GREAT food and GREAT people! Zero negatives and SO many positives!

First off, YES the restaurant is attached to a gas station. However, the owners could easily move this to a fancy location and charge triple!

Our family was desperate to find restaurants from different cultures despite living in the boonies of SW Virginia. One family member had just moved back to the US from a suburb of a multicultural city with millions of inhabitants. They had enjoyed a favorite Thai restaurant in their previous neighborhood and were looking for a new local Thai favorite.

During our first visit, we were blown away! We were offered samples of that day's offerings. Not only did we enjoy fabulous meals that evening, but we also took home multiple meals for later, something we have done each visit since. That one visit sealed the deal! We found not only our new favorite Thai restaurant but our overall favorite local restaurant.

Since then, we have enjoyed dinners (and tons of leftovers - the portions are enormous), celebrated some huge family events at the restaurant, and introduced a new family member to Thai food and the fabulous group of people who make and serve the incredible food.

My incredibly picky-eating teen has enjoyed the food and also learned about the it during his visits. Future chef? Maybe! If you have a picky eater, they even have chicken tenders, which are much better than the big chicken restaurants. His favorite is the Thai-inspired chicken alfredo!

I recently got married at Explore Park. My husband insisted on having Thai food at the reception and he only had one place in mind to cater...Thai This. My husband attended Radford University so we have loved their food for years. When I met with Brian (the owner) to ask about catering our wedding, he was so helpful, kind and friendly. Brian made it so easy for us. We just had to pick five menu items for Thai This to serve at the reception (which wasn't easy since EVERYTHING is delicious) and they took care of everything else. We were worried the older crowd and the less food-adventurous crowd may not enjoy the Thai food but that was not an issue at all. My grandparents who do not stray too far from American-type foods, LOVED Thai This. Everyone came up to my husband and I letting us know how great the spring rolls were and that they were the best they ever had.
