We recently came to the area and we were looking for something unique. We loved finding BCBG. As we approached the restaurant, there was some confusion as to the entrance as it is not clearly marked. Although some servers were on the patio, it was as though we were invisible. Not a word, no eye contact, nothing.
Side note: I have over 10 years of restaurant experience, in speed bars and dining. I’ve managed teams of 4 to that of 30. Restaurant work is hard and exhausting. It can be difficult on days, but... smile and fake it.
This place had 3 tables MAX and all on the patio.
We entered the restaurant area to find it completely empty inside. The bartender greeted us and he explained that we could take a seat and “someone” would be over to take our order. As we looked at the digital menu, a server sat at a table near the kitchen and proceeded to give myself and my s/o dirty looks and blank stares. After approximately 5 mins, with no greeting, drink or dinnerware, we approached the bar area for service and drinks.
The bartender was very nice and apologized for the lack of service. We ignored the prior mixup and were happy to give the attentive bartender the money.
We ordered our drinks, went back to the table to view the menu. We decide on food, which we are at a loss. Do we go to the bar or is someone going to care and come over? We go back up to the bar to place our order to which the happy bartender apologizes again that the server was MIA.
The food was fantastic. We loved our food. It was fresh and delicious.
The bartender was great and attentive. Giving him the 20% -up tip was well deserved.
We purchased some unique items to bring home for dinner tomorrow, but not without incident. While looking over the wall of drinks and items, very audibly, not only was a female server making fun of me standing nearly 6 feet from her, but her table as well. I would like to remind her that her mask doesn’t make her invisible. I don’t care, I’m grown, but the manager was nearby and could hear this and did not stop it. Very unprofessional. I could give a vivid description of this young lady, who unbeknownst to her I am old enough to be her mother, but I will keep those details to myself.
All I can say is, girl you are beautiful. Your tattoos are very nice and on a good day, you are probably amazing at your job BUT, making fun of customers is childish, rude and destroys repeat customers.
Other than the fantastic beer, food and MALE bartender, don’t waste your time. There needs to be some re-training, hiring and incentivizing for the team.
