Last night we attempted to try this restaurant with a reservation for a birthday party (of 22) that had been confirmed on the phone 3 times.
But, Mamacita gave our reservation for our party of 22 away to an unknown party and seated them just before we arrived, so we were sadly unable to sample any of the food from this restaurant.
I cannot review the food, but I can review the ambience and service at Mamacita, and I can tell you it is ABYSSMAL.
From the moment we arrived, this restaurant seemed cramped and claustrophobic, and did not seem to have the space to accommodate a party of 10, much less 20.
Upon arriving, we had to stand in a line that went out the front door of the restaurant while the hostess ran off to the back of the house, skillfully avoiding eye contact with anyone but her manager and the other waitstaff. The front door was now being held open on a cold and windy night by other customers who also claimed to have reservations. The robot was milling about and a small child clutched at the food it was carting around.
Since I was then informed that our reservation had been given away without confirmation, I was now charged with finding another venue to accommodate our party of 22 on a cold Saturday night, and they were arriving in about 15 minutes.
This is where Brixx Wood Fired Pizza: 1540 Dunn Road suite 100 Raleigh SAVED THE DAY!
Since Brixx is a few doors down from Mamacitas I trotted down there to check it out.

Read moreI don’t typically like to give bad reviews. But this place really disappointed me. I made reservations 1 week in advance to celebrate my sister’s bachelorette weekend. We walked in to the restaurant the vibes were nice very well decorated and the people were friendly. However the service was HORRIBLE! We got there on time for our reservation the lady was getting our table together and some other employee sat another party at our table. When the lady saw that, they began to argue in Spanish in front of me (idk if they know that I’m also Latina and speak fluent Spanish, very unprofessional) about how that table was for us since we made the reservation. The bride was very excited to try the spot to we stayed. We ended up waiting 30 min to get seated. Once we got seated the waiter was super funny and great until took our orders and we waited 2 HOURS for our food! There were people that got to the restaurant after us and got food before us. We asked the lady working up front that we have been waiting and was wondering when our food will arrive. She apologized, went into the kitchen and came out telling us that the order was never put in and that they are working on it now! We were all so disappointed it was the start to our bachelorette weekend and it was off to a not so great start. We ended up paying for our drinks and leaving. This seems like a common issue at this place because there were a couple of other groups that would get seated and not a single waitress or waiter would go to there table after being seated for 20 min and people leaving after not getting there drinks or even food. I will not...
