FIRST TIME VISTORS BEWARE!....Food was good! Unfortunately, my enthusiasm was quickly drained when it was time to pay the bill. I noticed an ATM machine upon approaching the cashier. Initially, I thought it was only there in case you wanted to leave a tip for the service. As I got closer to the cashier, I saw a sign that stated that "No credit cards or debit cards were accepted". They only accept cash or checks. It took my wife and I awhile to figure out how to get cash out of the ATM. I saw that there was a charge for the ATM and I know that my bank charges for ATM withdrawals. All of a sudden, my meal became more expensive to my dismay. Once I figure out how to get cash out of the ATM, I told the cashier that I was very unhappy about only being able to pay in cash or a check. I asked her if there was a sign that I missed when I first walked in and she stated that it was. I went to the front of the establishment and did not see any sign that mentioned the cash or checks only policy. The only sign that I saw was that "gift cards are accepted". I told the cashier that there was no sign and she stated that "the ATM only charges a dollar". She didn't seem to understand the inconvenience of not having the payment policy on the front door so that you can decide PRIOR to patronizing the business. This business traps you into an bad situation by allowing you to consume your meal and then you are forced into an outdated payment policy. This works fine for any returning customers because they know upfront, but it's a terrible policy for first time visitors. Accordingly, this has left a bad taste in my mouth and I WILL NOT RETURN because of the policy not being posted in front of the establishment and the cashier's attitude once I made her aware of this.....It appears if this establishment intentionally didn't post the payment policy and only makes you aware when it's too late to leave...
Read morePlaces like this are quickly disappearing, so it’s hard to put into words how happy I was when a Google search led me here. A meat-and-two-vegetable restaurant that actually cooks authentic, homestyle meals is hard to come by. It’s so rare, it was like time travel, and I am not talking about some of the menu options. I happened to get in right before the lunch rush came through. It wasn’t too long before they were lined out the door. They offer breakfast all day, rotating scratch-made lunch specials, and sweet tea in a Mason jar. What more could you want, good food with a good price? They’re what the fake country store places wish they could be. Well, I chose the baked chicken (dark meat) with hot sauce, steamed cabbage, cucumbers, added deviled eggs, and had a sweet tea. It was $12 before tip. Don’t get scared when you see it’s cash only. They won’t gouge you if you need to pull out money to pay. The surcharge on their ATM was a throwback as well. It only cost a dollar to take out whatever you needed. There’s not one complaint from me. I’d go back in instant, and I live an hour and a half away. It would be worth it every time. There’s a sign on the side of the building. It reads, “THE GOAT.”...
