I wish I could give it more than 1 star, but I can't.
We've been wanting to visit the Dankery for a long, long time now as a RDU native. Have seen all the reels and marketing posts that make the food look overly good.
Our first and most likely our last time here, unfortunately.
We came at around 7PM on a Sunday evening, with no other customer. The floors were greasy and slippery.
Ordered hot honey wings ( $15/6 wings) and a wet garlic Parm tray with steak/queso fries ($23). Gave our number and 15 mins later got a text saying they were out of hot honey. How are you out of HOT HONEY? instead they suggested to get "Thai chili".
A total of 30 minutes later from placing the order, with no other customer, we got a text saying food was ready.
Upon going home and taking the food out, the Thai chili wings were not spicy, infact it was sweet chili sauce that you can get from any Asian store - nothing unique or Thai about it. To add to insult, my wife on her first bite discovered a long piece of hair IN the batter, so we knew it wasn't ours. Disgusting.
The wet garlic Parm wings were decent, the only good thing about the order. Honestly would prefer the garlic Parm wings from Popeyes instead.
The queso steak fries were average at best. Asked for extra queso but didn't receive it. The steak was a sad addition - no flavor, just sliced meat on top of fries. No seasoning whatsoever.
We concluded we'd probably never go back to any of the locations, but glad we were able to try it out after seeing it on social media.
Service was slow, food quality was sub par. Would have given 2 stars if it wasn't for the hair in the batter.
In conclusion, there are far better establishments you can go to for $20/plate or less. Not worth the hype you see on social media. Also takes forever to get your food.
Hope this...
Read moreIf I could rate this place zero stars, I absolutely would. My recent experience at The Dankery was extremely disappointing, and I feel compelled to file a formal complaint.
I visited with my family and placed a large order totaling around $80. For a fast food restaurant, the hour-long wait was completely unacceptable. After such a long day at work, I chose The Dankery in hopes of avoiding the need to cook for my family — instead, I was met with frustration, delay, and inedible food.
By the time I got home, the entire order was a mess. The french fries were soggy and wet, the shrimp burger was falling apart, the shrimp coating had completely come off, and everything was dripping with sauce. The lettuce was wilted, and the sauce had soaked through the bag. It looked and tasted terrible — there was absolutely no pride taken in how the food was prepared or packaged. Honestly, I wouldn’t have served this to anyone, let alone my children.
The situation only got worse when I returned to the store the next day. I explained what had happened, expecting at least a partial refund or store credit. Instead, I was told, “Sorry, we don’t do refunds,” and was directed to contact the owner via Instagram. That is completely unprofessional and unacceptable — customers should not have to chase down management on social media just to be heard.
In the end, I wasted my money, wasted the food, and had to turn to McDonald’s just so my family could eat. This experience left me extremely disappointed, not just in the food but in the lack of basic customer service. If your staff cannot accommodate reasonable concerns or serve food in edible condition, something needs to change.
I will not be returning and will be sure to share my experience with others. I hope this message reaches someone who takes customer...
Read moreI don’t know what’s going on but the dankery is going down hill. I ordered delivery from GrubHub at 11:30pm, my friends and I were having a get together and no one wanted to go out. We know how busy the dank is so accepted delivery was going to take longer.
We ordered two tender trays and a steak and queso sub.
our steak and queso sub never came, I don’t know if the delivery driver forgot the bag it was in or if the dank never made it in the first place. I’m leaning towards it being the danks fault due to the second problem
One of our tender trays lacked the sauce we order. Anyone’s that goes to the Dank knows you order the food FOR the sauce, while my receipt reflected that we did order sauce our plate came dry. While I didn’t get a photo it was clear whoever wrote on the plate for the kitchen just wrote TT (tender tray) forgetting to write down the sauces
This could all be seen as a fluke but my friends have been having bad experiences at Dankery’s more convenient location to us on Hillsborough Street. Receiving extremely small portions of tenders and lightly sauced queso fries.
My friends and I love supporting local black businesses, as young black students ourselves. However eating out is not cheap and the Dankery is now becoming a gamble of if the food will be worth it or not due to it becoming non-consistent. Before the summer it was always the go to spot for us but we will not be returning...
