We happened to find Thai Fresh 2 U through a quick Google search after spending the afternoon kayaking down the American River. After working up an appetite, I was looking for a spot that offered vegan options for my daughter and this place came up with great reviews. I’m so glad it did because it turned out to be a hidden gem.
From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and welcoming. You could immediately tell this was a family-run restaurant where the owners truly care about the customer experience. The chef, who we later found out is also the owner, came out personally to ask how everything was, which was a really nice touch. We ended up chatting for a bit and learned that they had just had their grand opening on June 22, 2025, after moving up from Fresno. His wife runs the front while he’s in the kitchen, and together, they’re creating something special.
As for the food, absolutely delicious. I ordered the beef drunken noodles but with a twist, swapping out the traditional ribbon noodles for pad Thai noodles, which is something I usually do. I also asked for their highest spice level, a level 10. A lot of places will say “level 10” and you end up with something mild or just overloaded with chili flakes that throw off the flavor. Not here. The heat was real, enough to make your nose sweat but still balanced and flavorful. They nailed it.
My daughter had no trouble finding tasty vegan options, which can be tough when we eat out as a family. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care.
If you’re ever rafting, kayaking, or floating down the American River, or even just in the Rancho Cordova area, do yourself a favor and stop by Thai Fresh 2 U. Whether you’re plant-based or not, you’ll find something to love. Great people, great food, and an awesome new addition to the community. You won’t be...
Read moreSUPPORT FAMILY OWNED, local businesses!!!! It's rare that we find a Thai restaurant with vegan options (most are made with fish based sauces making it vegetarian friendly). Service, always friendly. We've dined in and ordered to go with great service consistency. They don't break sweat to answer every single annoying question I have regarding cross contamination or food sensitivity, lol. Clean, can fit large families. You want rare? They offer rare! Don't be shy to ask, they have substitutes or suggestions in meeting your expectations. Spicy levels from 0 to 10. For myself a 4 was spicy. For him, Thai ten didn't tickle his tongue, to each his own lol. Ordered and recommend: crying tiger, tofu satay, laab - it reminds me of a lettuce wrap- with mock chicken (next time I'll get tofu), pad wood sen with tofu - like a Filipino pancit. Huge portions. This is my latest go to craving. Returning...
Read moreThe owner is Hyped about the menu. You can tell it's genuine. This place isn't associated with the pho place down the street. It was originally an offshoot trying to be vegan exclusive I think. That failed I guess and now this guy bought it and he is clearly excited about it. The menu is Awesome. There's a lot to choose from and there's still vegan stuff too. Talk about variety! The flavors are fantastic and the atmosphere is nice too. This building started as a Mexican pastry shop and has been through at least 3 different businesses that I know of since then. I hope this place sticks around. A must try for sure. I'll be coming back again for sure. Hopefully sooner than later. Try the yellow curry. Or the drunken noodles. Or the sticky mango rice. I had the floral pink milk tea. The green tea is...
