Seafood and Cones – Route 138, Raynham, MA ⭐️ Overall: 2.5/5 🧑🍳 Service: 4/5 | 🍽 Food: 2/5 | 🌤 Atmosphere: 3.5/5
Visited on a Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m. Outdoor seating was available under a covered area with the walls down, which helped keep things comfortable. The place looked clean—even the restrooms—but I didn’t see the picnic tables being wiped down between guests. I did notice staff actively emptying trash, which was a plus. The staff was very friendly, and there was music playing over the speakers. However, when your name is called for pickup, it’s more like a jump scare. Everyone jumped.
I ordered clam cakes and chowder. The clam cakes were great—crispy, flavorful, and generously portioned. The chowder, on the other hand, was a disappointment. It tasted like it had been made with sour milk—or maybe sour cream. I know that taste; I worked in a dairy. I took two spoonfuls. The first made me pause. The second confirmed something was off. I didn’t find a single clam in it. Whatever else was in there—possibly crab or imitation crab—it wasn’t what I came for.
My wife, who has a gluten allergy, ordered the gluten-free chicken tenders. They looked undercooked at first, but it turns out the batter just doesn’t brown the same way. She said they were very good. The menu has a surprisingly large number of gluten-free options. That said, I don’t understand the $2 upcharge for something that doesn’t include gluten. Feels like getting less and paying more.
We didn’t try the ice cream side of the business, and the Coke we had was flat.
Later, someone we know mentioned they’d also been there and had decided not to warn us ahead of time. She had found her fries overcooked. I reminded her that with places like this, you’re often at the mercy of whoever’s running the fryer that day. Sometimes you get someone with skill; sometimes you’re just getting someone else’s food learning curve.
Would I return? Personally, no. Maybe I’d try the ice cream someday if the price made sense, but overall, I’d rather just scoop my own at home. I’m not warning others away—but I can’t recommend it either. You might have a...
Read moreWent in because I saw clam boil and I was craving so i had to. Unfortunately, this place is so fresh that they didn't even get the clams from the ocean yet!! That's not a bad thing. It means that the ingredients here are super local and fresh from the boat! (Pun intended)
I got a stuffie and let me say I'm a huge clam cake/ stuffed clam guy. Only place that does stuffed clams Justice in my opinion is star drive in. But this place and what they put inside the stuffy and not to mention the sauce on top?! My god!! It was heavenly!! My only regret was not ordering two more to eat as an entree!!!
The burger, be warned because I was about to make the mistake, is huge, kehd. I had two patties on mine and I can honestly say that that was too much for me. So some burger have three or four! Make sure you don't skim read like I did. Luckily, the waitress was awesome and she warned me. The fries that are done here are cute and fried to perfection.
The lobstah from the lobstah roll was fresh, flavorful, and so delicious. You can just tell that even from the bread roll they gave, every little detail into making the roll was taken into consideration. Nothing was made without love.
And lastly, I got a clam chowder to go. Since it was to go, I was saving this for my midnight snack. It wasn't fresh because I nuked the bowl and it came out hot to devour. Holy cow was this chowdah phenomenal!!! So rich and creamy and just oozing with clams and potatoes and pork! The saltiness of the pork helped balance the entire chowder and I could not be more happy they did this!! I will be returning here to try...
Read moreSeafood is mediocre but overpriced. But pretty much the only show in town so if you want fried seafood and don't want to drive it's a good option. Been there twice for ice cream and both times were a disappointment. The first time we got shakes. There was only one girl working and she must have been new because she made them one at a time and it took 40 minutes for 4 shakes which were all the same. I don't blame her, she clearly wasn't trained and could have used the help. Also they put the sprinkles on the outside of the cup which I guess is to be fancy but it's really not practical. You get your hands all sticky and done even think about putting them in your car's cupholder. Thw shake itself was basically a big cup of milk notes of strawberry. The next time we got ice cream. Mine was fine in the wafer cone but my girlfriend got a "homemade " waffle cone and it was stale and tasted like sand. Overall I wouldn't say avoid the place but maybe get your seafood and go elsewhere for the cones. Or get it in a cup. The ice cream itself is very good. As far as the atmosphere, I haven't been inside but outside is great. There's outdoor seating in the sun or under the pavillion. There are games like connect 4 and corn hole and there is an outdoor bar with draft beer but I haven't been there when...
