Stop 1 of 8 for Montana on our Hundreds of Hops self-guided US Hop Passport Brewery Tour Amazing Brewery Race 2025

I must say, a touristy area falling in the 3 star range didn't have me anticipating a fantastic experience. I was leaning towards something mediocre put there to drain the pockets of a would-be thristy, or perhaps hungry, passerby...

We drove through the hoards of people to the outskirts, where the crowds thinned & the parking opened up to a large lot. Cool. So far, so good. The red building was easy enough to spot & there was music playing from a tent in the field. We headed for the building door from the back of the building and found ourselves sniffing the air... could that be house smoked meat? Yes, yes, it is... and making us walk by a smoker is a sure-fire (pun intended) way to get us to buy your food along with your beer!

On to the bar we went, where we were met by an energetic 1 day a week worker. (We know because she mentioned it, we weren't THAT nosey!)

She gave us a run through & we ordered our BOGO brews & an order of pulled pork tacos with black beans to split. Were they spicy tacos, no. Were they on flour instead of corn, yes. Was the pork tender, juicy, flavorful & smoky... YES! The black beans were a great side choice if I must say so myself & both paired well with our beer options.

Dually Double IPA in at 4.5 for Kel - n/a from me Dog Pull Porter in at 3.75 from Kel & 4 from me - putting us as the 4.25 range overall

Unfortunately, the only to-go option then was growlers & that didn't work for us at the time. Next time through, perhaps it will or crowlers (other options) will be available. We would indeed go back.

On paying, they did miss the bogo beer & offered us our choice of refund and recharge correctly or 2 free drinks next visit. As we had no idea when we'd be back, we sadly had to opt for the refund and I want to emphasize that it was NOT an international overcharge & it was...

When we arrived we took our table and were greeted by our server. We ordered two Cubans (one with no mustard) and two flights of beers. The server did not have a note pad and insisted she was fine to remember the order.

Calling what we were served “Cuban’s” would have made Jon Favreau punch a chocolate lava cake. The heavy, doughy ciabatta esq roll it was served on wasn’t even toasted and was all I could taste. I wasn’t able to taste the “applewood smoked pulled pork” or the allegedly grilled ham. There was also no cheese and they both arrived with mustard. I genuinely ponder if the chef even knows what a Cuban is. I asked our server about the mustard and she said that she forgot to add a note to the order and replaced the sandwich.

Both of our flights were wrong and both had a beer that neither of us ordered. The beers were mediocre at best and we didn’t finish them.

We were then given our bill without asking for it in the middle of our meal, when we checked it we had an additional $15 charge for the applewood pork which says it was included on the menu. Our server apologies and said she was unsure why it was on there and removed it.

Overall an entirely disappointing experience and its only saving grace was that the food was warm. The server should have had a note pad as there were at least five mistakes with our order and could have been avoided by just writing it down.

The food was expensive for what it was, poor quality, lacked taste and substance and although our server was nice, the service was poor. Avoid and pick somewhere much nicer in the...

We are visiting from out of state and wanted to stop by and check out the beer and support a local business. I had also previously seen Sam's Taproom and Kitchen as an option in town, not realizing it was in the same place. The Google hours for Red Lodge Ales was listed as closing at 10pm, while Sam's was 9pm. When we pulled up, we realized they may both close at 9pm but wanted to go and ask to be sure. If they closed at 10, we wanted to stop by and get some beers. We walked in at about 8:40pm and asked a sweet girl at the counter. She let us know that they do close at 9 but she was ready to help us. Another woman behind her chimed in and started yelling about how the Internet was wrong and their location hours have been wrong for two years and it couldn't be fixed. It was so aggressive and weird that we didn't feel comfortable staying or purchasing anything since this woman clearly wanted to be out of there at 9pm and did not want to help us. We thanked the girl that helped us and left.

I just edited and updated your Google hours for you to reflect the 9pm closing time, which was accepted and is now updated correctly. We're bummed it was such a weird and negative encounter. I grew up spending summers in Red Lodge and that is not the hospitality I've...

We came to RLA for the 1st time yesterday- and I’m so glad we did!!! Between us we had the Rueben, a burger, and the pretzels. All were PHENOMENAL!!!! I had the pretzels with the beer cheese - OMG!! That beer cheese!!! I could eat a barrel of that by itself. My husband raves about the Reuben, my daughter loved the burger. I stole some fries from their plates - best beer battered fries I’ve ever had. We had a couple of the local brews - FANTASTIC. 20/10 recommend RLA!! We will definitely be back any!!!!

Really cool space. Rather good beer. But as people have said the service is crazy slow. I saw multiple people bussing their own tables from the last people. People started going in and getting her own beer . I watched servers walk by dirty tables 10 times. Even the manager did it. People waited 20-30 minutes for a beer. I think they just lack experience. They did one thing at a time instead of walking the room and doing it all at once. Meant to be constructive criticism.

I’ve bought Red Lodge Ales for years, but I was really impressed checking out their taproom for the first time! It’s conveniently right off the highway, has lots of outdoor seating, and lots of bar space too. Between this location and their cider mill in Billings, they have a wide variety on tap. This location also boasts a full kitchen. I recommend the Summer Daze beer while it’s still on, or the Jack’s 90 on nitro if you can get it.
