I went to Captain Jay's today. I just don't believe it because I said I would never return after the last time I purchase some wingdings from them, not from this location but still. They were so tiny and this was about a year ago and I vowed never to return. It was so hard to stay away because that lemon pepper is truly addictive. After today I see why I stayed away and well never return. No bang for your buck. The chicken wasn't worth it. ... still extremely tiny! Fried good season well but no meat . by the way they need to train their staff. The young lady made a mistake and gave me the the wrong order. No problem people make mistakes . Didn't give me 20 wingdings but 20 whole wings. Would have been better if I would have kept them look at the size of their chicken but I returned it and let her know. The problem is she took those wings and put them back where they keep the food warm. Noooo! That's wrong that order was supposed to be thrown out or offered to me but never to be given to another customer. Your staff needs to be trained on food...
Read moreOnce upon a time about 8 years ago a friend brought the most delicious tray of whole chicken wings to a Lions tailgate party. They were salty, crispy juicy pieces of heaven. The following years saw me having Captin Jay's fairly frequently. Then the pandemic hit and i found myself out of the country for almost a year. I hadn't had my favorite wings in almost two years until today and the same place that had what I thought was the perfect wing is but a shadow of its former greatness. The wings were small, dry and underseasoned. Got the family whole wing meal and while it says it comes with a large fry (and it used to) it now comes with a small fry..or at least that's what I got this time. After many meals at Captin Jay's in the last 8 years, this will most likely be the be my last... huge disappointment. Covid really did ruin...
Read moreIn town to visit my relatives and needed a quick bite to eat that was not KFC, Popeyes, or the standard chain restaurants. Captain Jay's came highly recommended
I ordered the chicken finger with the lemon pepper seasoning along with a peach cobbler. The chicken was fresh and fried crispy (the way that I like it). The lemon pepper season gave it the extra kick and reminded me of the "crack chicken" seasoning in Lansing, MI. The peach cobbler was a disappointment--it looked and tasted like they made it with canned peach pie filling. They could've kept that mess.
The chicken was good. Now I know to avoid the desserts and see ick to the chicken, fish, and french fries.
Side Note: Cleveland could use one of these special seasoning type restaurants. I may want to open...
