I noticed most reviews calling this place a "hole in the wall" when in fact it is yet another "mexican restaurant" that would be better off in a hole in the ground. (Read 😉 me out here) I am born & raised here in Reno & mexican. Ask me which restaurants I recommend for "good, authentic, mexican food" & I'd say: "My home". Along with the unicorn, yetti, mermaids & Walmart helpful employee, good mexican restaurants are mythical in Reno (no pressure). In my 1st & last visit, I ordered 5lbs of carne asada. It took them about 23 minutes to prep. Between the 5lbs & 3 drinks (peñafiel), my total was $58. I also read how some of the other reviews thought the prices were slightly too high here, duh (so is everything else ya cheapskates 😉). We all know prices are going up, it's just the pay wages that don't. So anyways, long story short, pricey? Yes. Quality wise, I figured out why it took 23 minutes to prep. Basically they must of pulled out frozen meat & tried to the best of their ability & high hopes that the meat would of thawed out just enough for the customer (me) NOT to notice - EPIC FAIL! I did notice, before I even threw it on the grill. Anyone who cooks would of seen it, without even tasting it. So, it could of been a fluke or not. I don't care to find out. These days I feel if any business, food or other, does not look out for the customer, why should the customer look out for the business? This includes all you locally owned. Wise up. Your fate falls only on yourself & how you...
Read moreHere is a spot known to locals as having great food. It is a combination of restaurant and market. There is lots of parking, even for trailers, and RVs. You can get freshly seasoned meat to take home to cook, and even buy some homemade salsa. There are plenty of tables to sit at. Their breakfast burritos here are huge. I had a chorizo burrito, and couldn't eat it all. It was delicious. We returned a couple of weeks later for lunch. I had the Chicken Enchilada lunch special. It was so good. They served it with sour cream and guacamole. It came with a side of Salsa Verde that had just the right amount of medium pepper heat for me. My friend had the carnitas plate, and said it was very good, and we should come back next week for lunch again! This place can get busy during lunch, as the construction workers come here to feed the crews. But the wait is worth it. The food here is much better than some of the Mexican-style food that I have tried in the area. Stop in and...
Read moreLike a couple previous comments have mentioned, the food here tastes good. However, there are no prices listed and they charge an arm and a leg for the food. How does one burrito and four soft tacos come out to $26? Or how about eight tacos with two ceviches coming out to $58? We tried to order food online but it didn’t work. The estimate was one third of what I was charged. I recommend you spend your hard earned...
