I have been ordering from desert sun bagels for over a year. I usually Doordash and the food is always delightful. But today, we went in to the store, and found ourselves disappointed. We came in to a full dining room, and didnt have to wait long. The fresh-faced cashier was lovely, helpful and professional. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, a bagel and 2 smoothies. Even the cook had a welcoming appeal. But we found ourselves disgusted when watching what we presume is supposed to be the dark-haired barista with giant glasses, not in uniform, making our drinks without gloves, and consistently touching her long un-styled hair, her face, putting her hands in her pockets, and back to our drinks. She was physically handling the fruit going in our cups, and it wasn't just our order that received this treatment from her. We couldn't help but watch as we waited for our order, but everything about how she conducted herself indicated that she did not want to be there. She didnt wash her hands once, yet continued to scratch her head and comb her hair with her fingers, aswell as reused unwashed blenders for multiple drink orders. And I'm sorry to say that seeing this brought down our entire experience. Which is disappointing, because I've never had anything but positive things to say about desert sun bagel until now. I myself have received a SerSafe Certification in the past, and am dreading to think of hair and whatever else could have made it into the food she handing to people. One other thing we noticed is that they're keeping a big trash can next to the bagel case. Hopefully they can atleast move that before flies get into the...

Went in to pick up a pre-ordered to go order. Ordered three drinks and some food. Whoever was cashiering at 9:30 on the 22nd hands me the food and one of the drinks, I stand around waiting for the other two. After five minutes I’m like ‘are the other drinks coming?’ To which I spent the next five minutes showing my order on my phone and she’s acting like ‘what other drinks’. Finally gives me one of them, with my name on it, out of a mini-fridge (this is ten minutes after getting there) and then spends the next five minutes doing…. Nothing, I guess? Either way finally I’m like ‘where is the third drink?’ And she’s like ‘Oh, get it out of the fridge.’

Totally unprofessional, your normal cashier is great, this one nets your business a solid one star rating on google, everyone else you’ve got working for you is consistently excellent. Train this one better or fire her, if she acts like that to all of your customers she’s losing...

Let me say first I’m so happy this place is back. I have to give it up to the owner, your probably going through a lot but let me tell you! You definitely bring a smile to my face everytime I get breakfast here. I’m a huge bagel fan and in all honestly all our other bagel shops in Reno are trash…, but the desert sun bagel omg everytime just so good. I never eat breakfast but when I get a good one man I lose it. Staff was very nice very quick and very inviting. I’d love to see the ultimate trio back but the desert sun bagel and the sage melt are still so out of this world I can come here every morning and never get tired (even if it came back I’d still probably switch between one of them everytime lol). Overall If you haven’t stopped by for breakfast yet your missing out big time especially if you are wasting your money at any of those other bagel...

One of my guilty pleasures in life is trying bagels in the different cities I visit. I am often disappointed because they don’t have just a bagel. Everyone has bagel bagel sandwiches and not just bagels. That is the way I could tell when they are made on premises if they sell just the bagel by themselves and DesertSunBagel did not disappoint. This morning I opted for the avocado toast bagel with everything seasoning and it was just yummy. I had to slow down and breathe between bites, the texture was the perfect boiled bagel texture. I recommend this place. It is your typical hole in the wall establishment with kind people taking your orders and cooking your food.

I waited 30 min and spent close to $20 for one of my bagels to look like this. It came crushed like it was in a wrestling match and barely toasted when I asked for it toasted. This is not what a bagel should look like. It’s shame cause this place has good flavors when the bagels are prepared and baked properly. It is also extremely cramped and feels like a fire hazard with how cramped the place is. The park situation is also a nightmare. Not worth the price for what you get nor the 30 min wait when they just have to toast your bagel which, again, they didn’t do. Wouldn’t recommend whatsoever. Go to truckee bagel. Or anywhere else for that matter.

When I pulled into the parking area, it was full of pickups & vans, which I took as a very good sign. Bagels and coffee - keeping it simple and doing a premium job on both. The bagels are baked by Daily Bagel, the sandwiches made to order, on site. The coffee (local roasters) is serve yourself, with all the usual add-ins included (again, help yourself.) Super nice folks there today. Special shout-out to Shane, who brought my sandwich out of the kitchen and handed it to me, then chatted with me about the local crystals on display near the coffee bar. I will be back. Also - they have an outside eating area.
