RODEO!!! Growing up in the suburbs of Detroit, I had no idea what a rodeo was and what type of events are involved with the rodeo. After moving here in Jan 2022, all I heard about was the Reno Rodeo on the radio and TV. I had to see what this "rodeo" thing is all about. All I can say is WOW. This is my 4th year in a row attending this awesome and entertaining event. I am enamored with the spectacle of all the events but mostly in the athleticism and talent that these cowboys and girls need to have. Lets not forget how well these horses are trained to do their thing too. They are all literally amazing! From roping steers to barrel racing, riding bulls to wrestling steers, it is all amazing to watch, especially from a suburbanite! The entire Rodeo week has so much to offer the Reno area and we can be proud of such a fun and entertaining event. With something for everyone, there's the carnival rides for the kids, vendors to buy all your western gear and tack, beer tents, dancing and the list goes on. The Reno Rodeo Association does a bang up job wrangling all the members and volunteers to make this wonderful event roll each day like a smooth mechanism. I will be attending for...
Read moreThe rodeo was fantastic. Although I do have something g to say about the carnival. We went Monday night. Family night. I had three kids with me. When we were in line for a specific ride the girls were so excited. We stood there and watched them get onto it and the operator was walking g back and forth from the ride and in front of it as if were lost. It went in about ten minutes then he almost started the ride when kids were standing up ! Parents were shouting the bar wasn't locked. He threw his arms up and went over and acted lost again. Well shorten my story. He was on something. All the parents invludinging myself got hmtgeir kids iff the ride and he couldn't figure out why. Well because you will not put my kids in danger because you're high. In the end the police were talking to him. My kids were scared, confused and disappointed they sat in that seat for over 15 mi utes while this guy was figuring out where he was. I am so disappointed that the rodeo carnival hired people like that to operate these rides that kids could be killed if you're not strapping them in. I'm...
Read moreFor the past 14 years my family and I have attended the reno rodeo. We love the shows the cattle horses. The only thing I dislike is that we sign up our kids for the mutton busting several time and they never make it .I have a feeling that their Hispanic names don't make it in the list, feels a bit discriminating only saw American kids on the shows.we received an email to show up Sunday for the kids show and our little one would have a chance to enter the mutton show and once again he's Hispanic name was rejected was never found on the list even tho my wife signed him up. We support their business and we don't get the support back ,seems like only full Americans with no dark colors are allowed to participate. My little one was soo disappointed that he didn't enter the show just like my other kids. Maybe next time we have to change their names to Cody...
