Benson Espresso — Restaurant in Renton

UPDATE: Under new ownership and the batista are delightful! My conversation below was actually with the former manager who OBVIOUSLY needed to get out of the business and chase after some happiness in her life. I hope she found it because I sure did... with delicious coffee and new baristas! ☕❤ This was my go to coffee place -- until today.

I (did) go here M-F and have yet to be recognized as a regular but that's not a deal breaker. The below conversation with the barista today IS a deal breaker, however.

Actual conversation with the barista: Me (in response to being asked for straws): "No, thank you. Have you guys ever thought of going straw-less?" Barista: "Nope, but we do always ask customers if they want straws as not to waste them." Barista (as she's handing me my espresso in their cup because in a rush I forgot my own cup): "What would really be great is if people brought their own cups."

I actually really like this place. I am a walker so I normally make my way to the coffee stand sometimes as part of my routine in the morning and the baristas there are so kind and wonderful. Today was different though, as a walker and for safety purposes I normally walk up the back ramp and order at the back window so that I am not accidentally hit by a vehicle pulling up. Unfortunately the back window was blocked and by the time I walked around to stand behind the vehicle that was first there, 3 more vehicles came up. I left. I didn't get my coffee and now I am not certain if this will be a regular thing or not of blocking the back window. If so then I have to find a new place to...

The baristas here are awesome. Everyone is full of fun, personality and multitasking awesomeness to get your orders done. I come here several times a week. Highly recommend their breakfast burrito when you are traveling, or their toasted waffles (it has tiny balls of sugar deposits in it. Not too much, but never bland).
