Delicioso! A Taste of Nicaragua in Richland Center at La Fritanga Craving auténtico Nicaraguan flavors in Wisconsin? Look no further than La Fritanga in Richland Center! This vibrant restaurant serves up a taste of Central America with heaping portions and home-cooked goodness. My Nicaraguan Feast: Let me tell you, my recent visit to La Fritanga was an explosion of taste and texture. I dove headfirst into their Nacatamal, a savory corn tamale bursting with tender pork, potatoes, and veggies. Each bite was a delightful mix of soft masa, juicy meat, and pops of flavor from the other ingredients. It was like a warm hug on a plate, perfect for a cozy winter day. Next up, I savored the Cerdo Asado, a generous portion of grilled pork marinated to perfection. The smoky, slightly sweet notes of the marinade kissed every tender morsel, and the pork itself was cooked to juicy perfection. It was a carnivore's dream come true! Of course, no Nicaraguan meal is complete without Gallo Pinto, the iconic rice and beans dish. La Fritanga's version was spot-on, with fluffy rice, perfectly seasoned black beans, and a hint of sofrito for that extra kick. It was the perfect accompaniment to both the Nacatamal and Cerdo Asado, soaking up all the delicious juices and adding a touch of earthy goodness. Beyond the Food: But La Fritanga is more than just the food. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with colorful décor and friendly staff who are happy to answer any questions about the menu. The owner, a Nicaraguan native, pours his heart and soul into every dish, and it shows in the quality and authenticity of the cuisine. Overall: If you're looking for a delicious and authentic Nicaraguan experience in Richland Center, La Fritanga is the place to go. From the melt-in-your-mouth Nacatamal to the flavorful Cerdo Asado and perfectly cooked Gallo Pinto, every bite is a fiesta for your taste buds. With its friendly atmosphere and genuine hospitality, La Fritanga will transport you straight to the heart of Nicaragua, right here in Wisconsin. Highly recommend! Rating: 5 out of 5 stars I hope this review helps you discover the hidden gem that is La Fritanga

Wow wow wow! LA Fritanga is awesome. The wait staff is very attentive to your every need and the cooks are amazing at what they do. The dishes are authentic, flavorful and just amazing. If you're not sure what to order, the wait staff is very helpful in explaining exactly what you're getting. The presentation of each dish that comes out is fancy yet simple. I had the lengua en salsa(beef tongue in a homemade cooking sauce). The meat was fork cut tender and the sauce was a perfect citrus tangy. It came with white fried rice, salad and fried plantains. My wife had the cerdo asado(marinated grilled pork). The pork was tender, juicy and full of latina flavor. The dish also came with fried beans and rice and a tangy cabbage salad. For dessert we had arroz con leche(rice pudding with raisins) and a banana split. They did have their first day hiccups but all in all it was a great time had by all. Food was amazing, atmosphere was great and the entire staff was outstanding. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other authentic Nicaraguan dishes. Definitely a regular go to place for lunch or supper. Ok, the fried cheese!!! Wow!!! Breakfast buffet is awesome! Eggs and pancakes made to order... Great!!

A couple weeks ago I went here for supper. I ordered the Churrasco, and an appetizer of Tostones with queso. The food was delicious and surprisingly authentic. Churrasco is a grilled beef strip steak with Nicaraguan seasonings and it was topped with some delicious chimichurri sauce. It also came with a side of rice and mashed potatoes. The steak was seasoned well and tasted great! The Tostones with queso are twice fried plantains, with pieces of fried cheese on top. I'm normally not a huge fan of plantains, however these twice fried plantains were actually delicious, and the cheese on top definitely helped add flavor. I washed everything down with a glass of Tiste. Tiste is a drink made from cocoa and corn. It has a very interesting texture and a pleasant taste of cocoa. The service was great, and all of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Overall I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant and will be eating here again!

Met a friend here for lunch. We were served tortilla chips and 3 small bowls --cilantro sauce (delicious, and I don't care for cilantro!), chunky tomato salsa, and a carrot/onion salsa. Interesting and unique. We had heard that portions here are enormous, so we opted for the lunch menu. She had the tilapia, I had the steak. Rice, nicely seasoned came with our meals, along with lettuce, tomato and a cucumber slice. We both selected the jalapeno sauce with our entrees. I was worried it would be too hot, but the jalapeno was subtle, and tasted very good. The menu described cabbage, they must have been out of cabbage. Not a big deal. I had plantain strips, my friend had the overripe plantains that are deep fried. My mango lemonade was very good. My friend had a cacao drink--very delicious, very sweet. We enjoyed sharing a piece of flan. Wait staff was very pleasant, attentive and helpful. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. Prices reasonable. Get a to go box as even the lunch portions are plentiful. Will definitely recommend to others and...
