Azteca Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Richmond

Let me start off by saying I have worked in food service before, and this was Not It. I get that late-orders can be difficult or wrong, but not like this.

The staff were somewhat friendly, especially the young man at the counter, I have nothing bad to say about it, it was standard.

However, the /kitchen/ staff should have never served carnitas that were so hard they could not be chewed and tasted a day old. Completely inedible. If you are using meat that old, I will not be returning to this store. I was very excited to try what was reviewed to be, authentic Mexican cuisine, but I was not only disappointed, but left hungry by how spoiled the meat tasted and how hard it was.

Late night orders are tricky, the best work around is to 86 a meal that looks inedible, or tell the customer directly that you are just out. To serve something that could potentially make your customers ill, like I got food poisoning from, is...

You may not venture down Route 1 south of downtown at night. Azteca is a reason to do so. Although the environs ar dark at night, inside you will find a brightly lit space with booths , tables and a tiny bar. The menu is large, with all items pictured and English explanations of the dishes. I tried the Mexican Burritos. These were what .I would call enchiladas. The filling was pure chicken and no filler. The sauces was not the usual thick sauce, but a vinegar-based sauces. Very interesting and different from what have ever had in a Mexican restaurant. It was a misunderstanding over the phone due to language barrier. I kindly brought it to the girls attention. She was very defensive, offers no help or even an apology. I just wanted some sort of fair resolution?
