I recently stopped by while running work errands. The owner was very pleasant and had wonderful hospitality. The food was not what I thought it would be. While placing my order, neighborhood locals, were hyping the food up. Of course, that definitely peaked my interest more. The fried chicken was fried to perfection. It just didn't have the taste of anything. Also, the greens definitely had to have been can. I'm country, I know the difference. The macaroni and cheese was also unseasoned. I asked for a roll and was given cornbread, I won't be returning but I did appreciate the owner. He's so nice.

Good food. Great service and conversation with the owner. Class act! Food was pretty good. Tried the meatloaf. Well seasoned. Good portion. The Mac and cheese was SOO good. The little cheese crusts from the side of the pan is what I look for. Had plenty!!! Yams and cornbread were alright. Nothing to write home about. But his service was A-1. For that I’ll definitely come back again and try something different. And the prices were really fair for the portion and what I ordered.

Harold, Harold, Harold…..lemme tell you how I was driving through these streets of Richmond with one knee and my fork going ham on this food. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS and I am a major foodie so it takes a lot for me to be pleased. When I’m in the city or driving by I plan to stop by you have a customer for life from me! Great hospitality, prompt service, wonderful personality, and some of the best soul food I’ve had in a while. Thank you! For making my day!

This visit for me was nostalgic; I knew about it years ago and thought it had closed and relocated. Imagine my surprise when it was still in the same location and to my tastebuds delight it was just as delicious. The only difference is the curbside ordering. When I tell you it was all good for my companion & myself...we had no real conversation during the meal other than...mmmm, ooh let me try yours, that looks good & aren't you glad we decided to go there! I am visiting friends from DC and we were on our way to the VA hospital to visit another friend and wanted to pick up food. Lucky for us, we stumbled across this gem of a take-out place. On the phone, the people were so sweet and helpful, and the food was AMAZING!!! It's HOME-COOKED delicious southern cooking, freshly cooked (I spoke to the guy while he was cooking). The friend chicken was so good and wasn't dripping I'm grease. The mac&cheese also wasn't swimming in fat, and the corn bread was so moist, my friend kept commenting about it. We arrived during the Covid pandemic and was pleased to see safe practices and friendly service. Very inviting environment. Right in the middle of a neighborhood... parking was curb side and food came out hot and fresh. We ordered the grilled chicken breast with yams and collards.
